The Opportunity
Mipac has expanded into the United States and opened a new office in Tucson, Arizona.
This is a unique opportunity for a Graduate Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our business at an exciting stage of growth and build your career within a global engineering company. Working alongside experienced engineers across North America and Australia, you will gain exposure to world-class mining, minerals processing, and heavy industrial projects from day one.
As a member of our engineering team, you will develop practical experience across the full project lifecycle, including engineering design, control systems, testing, commissioning, and site-based project delivery. You will be supported by experienced mentors and have the opportunity to learn from technical specialists across a range of automation platforms and industrial technologies.
You'll gain exposure to large-scale projects delivered internationally and, depending on project requirements, may have opportunities to travel to project sites across North America and internationally.
This role is ideal for a recent graduate who enjoys solving complex problems, working collaboratively, learning new technologies, and seeing engineering solutions come to life in real operating environments.
Your responsibilities
As part of a multidisciplinary project team, you will:

  • Support PLC, DCS, and SCADA development, configuration, and testing activities.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and commissioning activities.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues during project delivery and commissioning.
  • Work closely with process, electrical, mechanical, and control systems engineers to deliver integrated project solutions.
  • Learn and apply company, client, and industry engineering standards.
  • Contribute to engineering design reviews, project meetings, and technical workshops.
  • Build practical engineering knowledge through exposure to real projects and operating facilities.

What we are looking for

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Desirable
  • Exposure to PLCs, SCADA systems, industrial automation, robotics, or programming through university projects, internships, or personal interests.
  • Knowledge of control systems, instrumentation, or industrial communications.
  • Previous internship, co-op, vacation work, or practical engineering experience.
  • Interest in mining, minerals processing, energy, manufacturing, or heavy industry.
  • No prior industry experience is required. We are looking for curious, motivated graduates who are eager to learn and develop their careers.

Why Join Mipac?
