About The Role
The Field Engineer supports construction for utilities infrastructure projects (electric), assisting project managers with engineering tasks, logistics, and planning to ensure safe and timely execution. The role requires two years in the DC office, then about 50% travel. Temporary housing may be available.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support project teams in planning, coordination, and execution of utility construction activities.
  • Assist in interpreting construction drawings, utility maps, and specifications for crews and subcontractors.
  • Monitor field progress, ensure that work complies with safety regulations, project plans, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with engineers and project managers.
  • Perform field surveys, inspections, and as-built documentation.
  • Maintain daily project logs, progress photos, and quantity tracking.
  • Help resolve technical or design issues during construction, escalating when needed.
  • Ensure utility locates and permits are in place prior to construction.
  • Support material tracking, equipment logistics, and schedule updates.
  • Promote and enforce jobsite safety practices in compliance with OSHA and company policies.

Key Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering-preferably in electrical or mechanical fields-is recommended.
  • 1-3 years of experience in construction or utility field work (internships or co-ops considered).
  • Familiarity with utility infrastructure preferred (e.g., underground electric, gas mains, water/sewer lines).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of construction documents, specifications, and safety standards
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather and field conditions.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites.
