Description & Requirements
Bloomberg Media is seeking a Freelance Motion Graphic Artist to join the Video and Design Team. This high-impact role is embedded within the global newsroom, requiring the artist to work in tandem with the Global Newsroom and Producers. The primary responsibility is designing and producing premium motion graphics for both fast-turnaround and longer-term projects across Broadcast, Digital, and Social Media. The content covers a wide range of coverage areas, including markets, finance, business, politics, technology, health, and science. This is an in-office position based in the New York office.
We'll trust you to:
  • Production: Design high-quality, compelling visual assets, including creative animations, motion graphics, data visualizations, complex charts, and maps, while ensuring adherence to standards and branding guidelines.
  • Workflow Management: Navigate the full production lifecycle from concept to completion, understanding video and animation production and ensuring all media storage and project organization follow best practices. This requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Breaking News: Work effectively under pressure, actively pivoting and reacting to evolving news events to deliver precise elements on a quick, concise timeline without sacrificing quality and accuracy.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Partner with producers, journalists, editors, and other content creators to elevate content through creative pitching and expertise.
  • Sourcing: Utilize Bloomberg's internal video/image libraries and external resources with meticulous attention to detail and sourcing accuracy.
  • Platform Optimization: Deliver content tailored for multiple destinations, such as broadcast, social and digital, maintaining a strong grasp of export, metadata and platform-specific requirements.

You'll need to have:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of newsroom experience
  • Highly proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere)
  • Expertise in design, typography, motion graphics, and current design trends
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines
  • Flexibility with hours and availability to work, weekends, or holidays, If needed
  • A Portfolio of creative work that reflects expertise in motion design and data visualization

Bonus Points:
  • Experience with Cinema 4D
  • Experience with Canva & Figma
  • Print experience

Salary Range = 50 - 60 USD Hourly
The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
