JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction and supervision of the Manager of Cultural Arts and Stage Manager, the Crew Member is responsible for supporting various aspects of theatre productions. Key responsibilities include leading line and song run-throughs during rehearsal downtime, checking participants in and out, monitoring during break times, organizing bios and headshots for the program, and maintaining a clean and organized theatre space. The Crew Member will also provide general support to the Director and Stage Manager to help ensure rehearsals and performances run smoothly.


This position is essential in fostering a positive and encouraging environment for all participants. The ideal candidate is reliable, enthusiastic, and comfortable working with children of varying ages, experience levels, and abilities in a supportive and collaborative setting. In addition, the Crew Member will assist theatre staff with coordinating tech rehearsals and performances. Other duties may be assigned. This is an at-will position.


HOURS (ATTENDANCE REQUIRED)

  • August 24 & 26: Auditions, 4-8pm
  • August 27: Callbacks, between 4-8pm
  • September 9 through November 4: Rehearsals take place on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5-8pm, with a production meeting occurring once per week prior to rehearsal.
  • November 9 through 11: Tech week, 4-9pm
  • November 12 through 15: Performances, show times at:
    • November 12 & 13 at 7pm
    • November 14 & 15 at 1pm and 5pm  
  • November 18: Post Show Meeting and Cast Party


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING:

  • Ability to run simple line and song run-throughs with actors during rehearsal downtime.
  • Assist with costume piece creation and basic craft tasks.
  • Assist with prop creation and organizing.
  • Assist with simple set creation aspects when needed.
  • Assist with tech rehearsals and performances as needed.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized theatre space.
  • Supporting the Director and Stage Manager during rehearsals and performances.
  • Checking participants in and out at the beginning and end of rehearsals.
  • Supervise children during rehearsal breaks.
  • Performing other duties as assigned to support the production process.
  • Some college coursework and/or other related training and/or experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience interacting with children is required.
  • Strong and effective communication and customer service skills are essential.
  • Friendly yet assertive demeanor to maintain classroom behavior and interact with parents is important.
  • Ability to maintain discretion with regard to confidential matters and/or information.
  • High school graduate or equivalent, is required. 
  • CPR and First Aid certification is a plus but will be provided if needed.
  • Proficient in MS Outlook or other email system for communication purposes is required.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
