Job description

FSB, an affiliate of Colliers Engineering & Design, is offering a hands-on Summer Internship for Interior Design students who want to turn creative ideas into spaces people experience. As an intern, you’ll work alongside experienced interior designers and other design professionals while gaining experience in space planning, materials and finishes, furniture, design development, visualization, and construction documentation.

You’ll contribute to projects across a variety of markets and building types while seeing how interior designers balance creativity, functionality, client goals, material performance, and the technical realities of the built environment.

This is more than a summer of shadowing. You’ll have opportunities to contribute ideas, build your design and technical skills, gain professional project experience, and explore what a career in interior design within a multidisciplinary A/E firm can look like.

Design & Technical Learning

  • Assist with interior design, space planning, modeling, visualization, and documentation using Revit and other design tools
  • Support finish, furniture, fixture, material, color, and product selections
  • Assist with development of floor plans, elevations, details, finish plans, schedules, renderings, and presentation materials
  • Contribute to programming, material research, product specifications, and design development
  • Learn how building codes, accessibility requirements, life safety considerations, and design standards influence interior environments
  • Gain exposure to FF&E and the interior design process from concept and documentation through installation

Team Collaboration

  • Work alongside experienced interior designers, architects, and other design professionals on active projects
  • Participate in coordination with architecture, mechanical, electrical, structural, and fire protection teams
  • See how interior design concepts evolve through client input, BIM coordination, technical problem solving, and multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Gain exposure to project meetings, client communication, and the day-to-day processes behind successful project delivery

The FSB Internship Experience

Our internship program is intentionally designed to help you make the transition from student to emerging professional. Along with your project work, you’ll have a summer full of opportunities to learn, connect, explore your career interests, and become part of FSB.

During the summer, you’ll:

  • Kick off your experience with FSB 101 and an introduction to our firm, culture, people, projects, and career opportunities
  • Connect with an FSB team member as a resource for questions, navigating the firm, and making connections throughout the summer
  • Participate in professional development programming, including leadership and project focused panels, Lunch & Learns, design activities, and other learning opportunities
  • Meet leaders and professionals from across FSB and learn about different career paths within the A/E industry
  • Build relationships with fellow interns and employees through networking, community service, and intern events
  • Develop your communication and presentation skills and wrap up the summer by sharing your experience, project contributions, and lessons learned through a final intern presentation

Required Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in interior design or a related accredited program
  • Able to work on site in Oklahoma City for the duration of the summer internship, approximately 40 hours per week
  • Basic familiarity with Revit and interior design, rendering, or visualization software preferred
  • Strong communication, creativity, organization, problem solving, and collaboration skills
  • Curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to ask questions, contribute ideas, take on new challenges, and learn from experienced professionals
