Prime Air is seeking an experienced Software Engineer who combines superb technical, research and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively. This person must be comfortable working with a team of top-notch developers and collaborating with our research teams. We're looking for someone who innovates, and loves solving hard problems. You will work hard, have fun, and of course, make history!
The ideal candidate will have experience in autonomy for robotics/aerospace applications, system design for safety-critical software, and working with a wide variety of stakeholders across the technical spectrum.
Export Control License: This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon's ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf
Key job responsibilities
1. Design, develop, implement, test, and document embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems and services.
2. Translate functional requirements into robust, efficient, supportable solutions that work well within the overall system architecture.
3. Participate in the full development cycle, end-to-end, from design, implementation, and testing to documentation, delivery and maintenance.
4. Evaluate and make decisions around the use of new or existing software products and tools.
5. Mentor junior development engineers.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience in embedded development in C/C++

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
