Job description

Description:

The Opportunity

Adaptec Solutions is looking for a Robotics Engineer to join our engineering team in Rochester, NY. We are open to candidates across multiple experience levels, from developing robotics professionals through experienced engineers capable of owning complex robotic applications.

The common thread is hands-on FANUC robot programming experience and a desire to work in an environment where robotics, automation, problem-solving, and continuous improvement are part of everyday work. FANUC programming experience is our one nonnegotiable.

The position will be aligned as Robotics Engineer I, II, or III based on the selected candidate's experience, technical capabilities, and level of responsibility.

What You'll Do - Depending on your level of experience, responsibilities may include:

  • Develop, modify, and troubleshoot FANUC robot programs
  • Teach points and validate robot motion paths
  • Configure frames, payloads, tooling data, safe zones, and recovery routines
  • Support robotic cell build, testing, debugging, startup, and commissioning
  • Integrate tooling, fixtures, peripherals, interlocks, vision, and related automation components
  • Analyze system performance and support cycle-time optimization
  • Troubleshoot robotic system issues using structured problem-solving techniques
  • Maintain robot programs, backups, and technical documentation
  • Collaborate with controls, mechanical, electrical, and other engineering disciplines
  • Support factory and customer-site acceptance activities
  • Contribute to robotics standards, best practices, and continuous improvement
  • At the senior level, provide technical leadership, peer review, and mentoring to less-experienced engineers

These responsibilities reflect the progression in the existing roles from program creation and motion validation through independent application development and, ultimately, ownership of complex coordinated-motion applications.

Requirements:

Where Might You Fit?

Robotics Engineer I | Developing / Early Career

You have foundational hands-on robotics experience and are building your programming and integration capabilities. You may have gained your experience through employment, internships, co-ops, technical education, or another hands-on environment.

Robotics Engineer II | Experienced / Independent Contributor

You can independently develop and modify robot programs, configure robotic applications, validate paths, participate in debug and acceptance activities, and troubleshoot issues within your assigned scope.

Robotics Engineer III | Advanced / Technical Lead

You can own complex robotic applications, lead integration and optimization efforts, troubleshoot challenging system issues, support acceptance activities, and provide technical guidance to other engineers.

The existing descriptions establish approximately 1–3 years of programming experience for the current P2 position and 4–7 years of application ownership for Level III, with increasing independence and technical ownership between levels.

What We're Looking For - FANUC robot programming experience is required - nonnegotiable.

Depending on level, we're also looking for a combination of:

  • Robot programming, point teaching, and motion validation
  • Robotic cell debugging and troubleshooting
  • Frames, payloads, tooling data, safe zones, and recovery
  • Tooling, fixture, peripheral, interlock, or vision integration
  • Startup, commissioning, or acceptance testing
  • Root-cause analysis and structured problem solving
  • Strong documentation practices
  • Cross-functional engineering collaboration
  • Cycle-time and system performance optimization
  • Technical leadership or mentoring experience for senior-level candidates
  • Up to 30% travel may be required depending on project needs.

Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline, technical degree, or equivalent practical experience will be considered based on the level of the position.

Ready to put your FANUC experience to work? Apply today and let's determine where your experience fits within our Robotics Engineering team.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this opportunity is $80,000–$120,000 annually. Placement within the range and designation as Robotics Engineer I, II, or III will be based on relevant experience, technical capabilities, and overall alignment with the responsibilities of the position.

Adaptec Solutions offers a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, 11 paid company holidays including your birthday, health, dental and vision coverage, HSA/FSA options, 401(k) match with immediate vesting, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life/AD&D insurance, and education assistance.
