What is an internship ad tech?

Internship Ad Tech positions are entry-level roles within the advertising technology industry, designed for students or recent graduates to gain hands-on experience. Interns in ad tech typically work with digital advertising platforms, data analytics, and campaign management tools to support marketing teams. These internships provide exposure to how technology is used to target, deliver, and measure online advertising. Participants often learn about programmatic advertising, real-time bidding, and audience segmentation. The experience helps build skills relevant for future careers in digital marketing, analytics, or advertising technology.

What types of projects and technologies do interns typically work with in an ad tech internship?

As an Ad Tech intern, you'll often be involved in projects that support digital advertising campaigns, data analysis, and the optimization of ad delivery platforms. Interns commonly work with tools like programmatic ad platforms, data visualization software, and may use coding languages such as SQL or Python for data manipulation. Collaboration is key—you'll often work closely with engineers, account managers, and data analysts to solve challenges related to ad targeting, performance measurement, and campaign reporting. This exposure offers a strong foundation in both the technical and business aspects of advertising technology, which can lead to future opportunities in product management, analytics, or software development within the industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an ad tech intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Ad Tech Intern, you generally need a foundational understanding of digital advertising concepts, data analysis, and basic programming or analytics skills, often supported by coursework in marketing, computer science, or related fields. Familiarity with ad servers, DSPs, analytics platforms like Google Analytics, and spreadsheet tools is typically expected. Strong communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail help interns effectively collaborate, learn quickly, and manage tasks in a dynamic environment. These skills are crucial for supporting campaign execution, analyzing performance data, and contributing to the success of digital advertising initiatives.
