Job description

Palantir builds the world’s leading software for data‑driven decisions and operations, enabling partners to develop lifesaving drugs, forecast supply‑chain disruptions, locate missing children, and more.

Forward Deployed Infrastructure Engineers (FDIEs) build, operate, and maintain the infrastructure that powers Palantir’s platforms and production deployments.

As an FDIE intern, you’ll work alongside full‑time FDIEs to deploy and operate Palantir software across real production environments, automate manual processes, and develop novel solutions to infrastructure challenges using tools like Foundry and Apollo. You’ll be treated as a full member of the team, with real ownership over the work you take on.

Core Responsibilities
  • Deploy and operate Palantir software across production environments, including monitoring, alerting, configuration management, and upgrades.
  • Debug, improve, and optimize Palantir’s services and infrastructure with a focus on long‑term reliability and scalability.
  • Reduce manual operations by automating workflows, processes, and runbooks wherever possible.
  • Develop novel solutions in Palantir’s Foundry and Apollo platforms to solve infrastructure challenges.
  • Work in small teams with minimal supervision and own end‑to‑end execution of real infrastructure projects.
  • Discuss systems architecture, debug production issues, build automation to eliminate manual processes, or deploy new Palantir products across production environments.
What We Value
  • Ability to continuously learn, work independently, and make decisions with minimal direction.
  • Confidence troubleshooting complex systems issues using observability tools and service logs.
  • Comfort with large‑scale production systems and technologies—such as load balancing, monitoring, distributed systems, or configuration management.
  • Ability to identify and automate highly manual tasks, driving ongoing improvements within and across teams.
  • Eagerness to creatively solve technical problems using cloud infrastructure, storage systems, and other infrastructure tooling.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams of technical and non‑technical individuals in a constantly evolving environment with dynamic objectives.
What We Require
  • Active US Security clearance, or eligibility and willingness to obtain a US Security clearance prior to start of internship.
  • Engineering background, preferred in fields such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, or Data Science.
  • Strong proficiency with one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, Go, C++, or TypeScript/JavaScript.
  • Must be planning on graduating in 2028; this should be your final internship before graduating.
Salary

The estimated salary range for this position is $10,000 per month. Total compensation will be determined based on individual qualifications, work experience, skills, and other factors and excludes benefits and potential future incentives.

We are dedicated to making the application and hiring process accessible to everyone and will provide reasonable accommodation for those living with a disability.
