Meet the Team
Join the 15.4 Networking - Multiprotocol team at Silicon Labs, where we develop industry-leading embedded networking software powering the next generation of connected devices. Our team builds and enhances IEEE 802.15.4-based networking stacks for SoC, Host/NCP, and Host/RCP architectures, enabling seamless integration across technologies such as OpenThread, Zigbee, Bluetooth® LE, and Wi-Fi. Working in a highly collaborative environment, you'll help deliver robust, production-quality software that enables secure, reliable, and interoperable IoT solutions for customers around the world.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for IEEE 802.15.4 networking solutions across SoC and host-based architectures.

  • Develop and enhance multiprotocol solutions integrating technologies such as OpenThread, Zigbee, Bluetooth LE, and Wi-Fi.

  • Design, implement, and maintain embedded software modules for bare-metal and RTOS-based systems.

  • Create and execute comprehensive unit tests to ensure high-quality, reliable embedded software.

  • Debug embedded applications using tools such as JTAG, GDB, and logic analyzers in ARM-based environments.

  • Troubleshoot Linux-based host applications and networking solutions.

  • Leverage AI-assisted development and debugging tools to improve engineering productivity and software quality.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver scalable, maintainable software solutions.

  • Participate in code reviews, continuous integration workflows, and software quality initiatives.

  • Contribute to improving development processes, automation, and engineering best practices.

  • Mentor interns and junior engineers while fostering a collaborative team culture.

Skills You Need
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • 6 to 8 years of strong experience developing embedded software using C/C++.

  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language, preferably Python.

  • Experience designing and implementing embedded software for bare-metal and RTOS-based systems.

  • Strong experience writing and maintaining unit tests for embedded software.

  • Experience with embedded networking technologies, preferably IEEE 802.15.4-based networking such as OpenThread or Zigbee.

  • Strong debugging experience using JTAG, GDB, logic analyzers, and ARM-based development environments.

  • Experience debugging Linux-based host applications.

  • Experience using AI-assisted development or debugging tools to improve software development workflows.

  • Working knowledge of version control systems, preferably Git and GitHub.

  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, preferably Jenkins.

  • Experience with container-based development environments, preferably Docker.

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional engineering environment.

  • Experience mentoring interns or junior engineers.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

The Following Qualifications Are Considered a Plus
  • Experience developing embedded multiprotocol networking applications.

  • Experience working with networking certification organizations, preferably the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA).

  • Familiarity with open-source networking platforms such as OpenThread and Zephyr.

  • Strong understanding of CI/CD architecture and automation best practices.

  • Strong understanding of containerized development environments and infrastructure.

  • Deep experience with Git-based development workflows.

  • Experience mentoring and technically guiding junior engineers.

  • Experience developing software using the Zephyr RTOS.

  • Experience using simulated hardware and network testing environments, such as Renode.

The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between $101,500 - $188,500 USD. Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, geographic location where work will be performed and applicant's skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus, equity package and a comprehensive benefits package.
