Job description

InfoWest is an Internet Service Provider based in St. George, Utah. We primarily serve communities throughout southern and central Utah, as well as Overton Nevada with highly reliable wireless and fiber optic technologies. We recently became subsidiary of the Boston Omaha Company (NYSE:BOC) and are rapidly expanding our fiber-optic services. As our company is preparing for rapid growth with more extensive construction, marketing and sales budgets, we need to expand our fiber construction team.


*This is an on site construction position, relocation fees will not be given.

This is an entry level position for individuals interested in working as an infrastructure technician. InfoWest operates a fiber optic network throughout southern Utah. We have installed miles of fiber optic lines over the last decade and we are expanding every day. At InfoWest, our ultimate objective is, "To Provide the Ultimate Internet Experience, one customer at a time".  We're looking for someone who will help us close the digital divide and help us meet our ultimate objective. InfoWest is committed to helping our community have access to high speed, reliable internet services.


Job Functions:

    • Duties will include general labor related to telecommunications construction as directed by the Foreman/Supervisor including, digging trenches, installing conduit, vaults, and pedestals, working on towers.
    • Splice fiber optic cables.
    • Work around construction equipment such as bucket trucks and reel trailers.
    • Performs site clean-up.
    • Restore and landscape disturbed areas of the jobsite.
    • Attend training and professional certification opportunities.
    • Attend safety meetings and training.
    • Follow OSHA and all other safety rules as well as related company policies at all times.
    • Use all prescribed safety equipment that is required to safely do the job at hand.
      • Install/maintain wired and wireless internet equipment.  
      • Maintain company issued assets including tools, equipment & vehicles. 
      • Install battery backups and grounding systems for equipment. 
      • Equipment preparation.
      • Follow training protocols and perform the job safely.
      • Ability to work well with a team as well as independently when required.
      • Drive company vehicles.
      • Able to lift over 75 pounds


Skills and Requirements for Position:


    • Rotational on call
    • Must have the physical ability and the willingness to climb towers.
    • Must be able to work in all weather conditions. 
    • Must be able to climb towers while adhering to all safety procedures
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    • Respect and Courtesy of other team members and customers is required
    • Previous experience using hand and power tools
    • DC/AC electrical skills
    • Must pass a background check, MVR check, & drug screen  

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily working outside in weather with some indoor work.
  • Work conditions can include working in high and low temperature environments.
  • Hours will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Monday-Thursday. Some variances from this schedule will occur occasionally as projects require.

Qualifications:

  • Must have the ability to operate manual and mechanical equipment, as necessary.
  • Basic knowledge of AC and DC or low voltage wiring a plus.
  • Constructions experience a plus.
  • Customer service experience a plus.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Basic knowledge of personal computing devices and routers.
  • Must be able to pass a background check, drug test.


Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have a Valid Drivers license and a clean driving record, CDL a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 75 pounds.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb and work from ladders and rooftops.
  • Ability to learn and to work with or without supervision.
