Position Description: 

The Senior Sustainability Consultant leads and manages a portfolio of client engagements focused on corporate and product impact inventory development, target setting and tracking, and sustainability strategy development and implementation. This role serves as a key client contact, translates sustainability challenges into actionable analytical work, and leverages Bureau Veritas and Aligned Incentives tools, including AITrack, to deliver strategic insights and practical solutions.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and project manage a portfolio of customer engagements, including corporate and product impact inventories, target setting, tracking, and sustainability strategy implementation.
  • Serve as the primary client contact for assigned engagements, maintaining regular communication and visiting primary customers as appropriate.
  • Understand client sustainability challenges and translate business needs into clear analytical plans, deliverables, and recommendations.
  • Coordinate the proper flow of information to clients regarding products, services, timelines, deliverables, and project status.
  • Perform and oversee analytical tasks, including data collection, data processing, corporate inventory development, product footprinting, strategy analysis, report generation, documentation, and quality assurance/control.
  • Provide strategic advisory services that help clients set, track, and achieve sustainability-related targets.
  • Support growth within the existing client portfolio by identifying additional service opportunities and delivering high-quality client engagement.
  • Partner with Sales on new customer acquisition by providing technical support in sales meetings, scoping work, drafting proposals, and developing pricing inputs.
  • Develop client-facing deliverables such as technical documentation, analytical insight summaries, methodology materials, reports, and slide decks.
  • Support clients preparing for third-party assurance of corporate inventories and related sustainability disclosures.
  • Use Bureau Veritas and Aligned Incentives analytical tools and platforms to derive insights and support client decision-making.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Service Manager.

 

What You'll Bring:

  • Expert knowledge of major sustainability market drivers and reporting frameworks, including the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP), Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB).
  • Expertise in Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 corporate greenhouse gas accounting.
  • Strong sustainability consulting skills, including client relationship management, project management, strategic advisory, and problem solving.
  • Ability to develop, analyze, and communicate corporate inventories, product footprints, target-setting pathways, and financially driven sustainability strategies.
  • Experience modeling impact mitigation interventions and developing marginal abatement cost curves.
  • Strong data collection, survey, assessment, analysis, reporting, and quality assurance skills.
  • Advanced business writing and presentation skills, including technical documents, client-facing slide decks, methodology documentation, and instructional materials.
  • Ability to support sales activities through technical input, proposal writing, scoping, price quotations, and customer solutioning.
  • Experience in technology, apparel/textiles, agriculture, or other supply-chain intensive sectors preferred.
  • Experience with third-party assurance support for corporate inventories preferred.
  • Familiarity with life cycle assessment, life cycle inventory database development, renewable energy markets, and opportunity identification preferred.
  • Programming or analytical skills in R, Python, SQL, Power BI, or similar tools preferred.

Education, Certifications and Experience:
  • Master's degree in a sustainability-related field with a heavy focus on environmental impact accounting, environmental engineering, strategy development, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree may be considered with demonstrated subject matter expertise and at least seven (7) years of proven experience developing and leading a portfolio of sustainability consulting engagements.
  • Demonstrated experience leading sustainability consulting engagements with end-to-end responsibility for project management, client relations, problem solving, proposal writing, price quotations, and revenue growth with existing customers.
  • Demonstrated experience with sustainability frameworks and market drivers such as GHGP, SBTi, ISSB, and Scope 1, 2, and 3 accounting.
  • Demonstrated experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting assessment and survey data.
  • Experience developing client-facing deliverables, including technical documentation, methodology materials, analytical summaries, and presentation decks.
  • Experience supporting corporate inventory assurance, financially driven sustainability strategies, and supply-chain sustainability engagements preferred.
