Job Summary
The Student Assistant will support the College of Science and Mathematics as a Supplemental Instructor on the Swainsboro Campus beginning Fall 2026.
Employment is contingent upon funding.
Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.
Responsibilities
  • Empower Through Training: Attend SI training sessions to learn innovative strategies for helping peers thrive.
  • Immerse Yourself in Learning: Attend all class meetings, take notes, and read assigned materials
  • Spark Engagement: Actively recruit participants for your SI sessions, turning fellow students into eager learners.
  • Craft Learning Experiences: Design engaging SI lesson plans using interactive learning strategies to promote collaboration and critical thinking.
  • Facilitate Sessions: Conduct 2-3 lively sessions weekly, guiding peers confidently.
  • Be Available: Host appointments for questions and support.
  • Collaborate and Reflect: Meet regularly with the SI Coordinator and graduate assistants to share insights, discuss challenges, and brainstorm new strategies.
  • Connect with Faculty: Build strong relationships with faculty to create a unified support network.
  • Uphold Excellence: Follow all procedures and policies of the Academic Success Center to ensure a positive learning experience

Shift Specifics
  • Up to 15 hours per week
  • Flexible with schedule of availability

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
  • Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Education
  • Successful completion of the SI course with a grade of "A" or better
  • Maintenance of a solid overall GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale

Proposed Salary
$16.00 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
