Mission:

Quantum Research Intl. is seeking a motivated Senior Data Architect to work as a member of their team in our Huntsville, AL, National Cyber Security Operations Center. The Senior Data Architect is responsible for data modeling, governance, integration, and the development of scalable, high-performance data environments aligned with modern DoW standards in support of the Army Critical Information and Exposure Reporting System (ACIERS). This role ensures that ACIERS data systems are robust, secure, interoperable, and capable of supporting advanced analytics and mission-critical workflows across unclassified, secret, and top-secret environments.  

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data architectures that support ingestion, integration, storage, modeling, governance, and analytics of PAI (Publicly Available Information) and CAI (Commercially Available Information) datasets, alongside sensitive security data sources
  • Architect end-to-end data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and enriching heterogeneous data (structured, semi-structured, unstructured) while ensuring compliance with security classification, handling requirements, and risk management frameworks (e.g., RMF)
  • Define and enforce data models, schemas, ontologies, and metadata standards that facilitate correlation of PAI/CAI with classified or controlled security data for risk highlighting, analytics, and reporting.
  • Support hybrid cloud strategies: manage on-premise databases while designing seamless integration, migration, and synchronization with AWS, Azure, or cloud-hybrid environments. This includes data lakes, warehouses, and real-time processing capabilities.
  • Collaborate with development teams to define, source, ingest, and structure mission-relevant data.
  • Provide technical thought leadership in high-level architecture, big data adoption, and analytics platform strategy.
  • Lead the architecture and design of the business intelligence and analytics platform supporting ACIERS.
  • Ensure the data design can scale to accommodate expanding mission requirements and datasets.
  • Support integration of cloud-managed services, when appropriate, ensuring compliance with DoW standards.
  • Coordinate and lead discussions with customer stakeholders on subject matter areas, generate required contract reporting/courses of action, and produce briefing materials.
  • Collaborate with security, compliance, engineering, and analytics teams to translate risk/vulnerability requirements into technical data solutions, including APIs, ETL/ELT processes, and self-service analytics platforms.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree with proven record of senior level experience.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in data modeling for large, complex database systems (350+ tables) with a focus security, risk, or intelligence data environments. Prior experience with eMASS, RMF processes, PPPs, or similar DoW/cybersecurity data sources is highly preferred.
  • Strong expertise in relational and no/SQL/on-premise databases (E.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) alongside cloud-native services (AWS RDS, S3, Azure SQL, Redshift, etc.)
  • Proficiency in data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical), ETL/ELT tools, data integration and orchestration platforms.
  • CompTIA Security+ CE or higher
  • Demonstrated ability to design enterprise-level data architectures aligned with mission objectives.
  • Strong conceptual thinking and the ability to translate mission needs into technical data solutions.
  • Recognition and application of data architecture design patterns.
  • Experience creating performance-optimized physical data models.
  • Proficiency with data modeling tools (e.g., InfoSphere, ERWin).
  • Understanding of big data technologies and high-volume, real-time data processing environments.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance or must be capable/eligible of obtaining such upon employment. (Security Clearance requires US Citizenship)

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of experience in data analysis or related fields.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, SQL.
  • Hands-on experience with big data frameworks, data integration tools, and analytics platforms.
  • Experience with UML, Sybase PowerCenter, or similar modeling suites.
  • Working knowledge of Informatica B2B Data Exchange.
  • Experience with OSCAL, automated control inheritance, or direct eMASS integrations.
  • Experience with search, content recommendation, and sequencing algorithms.
  • Understanding of Supply Chain Risk Management or sensitive/critical program data handling.
  • AWS Certified Data Analytics--Specialty, Azure Data Engineer/Architect, CDMP, CISSP
