Job description

PARTNERSHIPS MANAGER (STARLINK MOBILE) 

SpaceX is developing a new satellite-to-mobile network to bring ubiquitous cellular connectivity worldwide via the Starlink constellation. We are partnering with telecommunication companies around the world to bring this service directly from satellites to mobile phones, with the goal of providing coverage anywhere a phone can see the sky. 

Starlink was designed to connect the disconnected and this new product will greatly expand that mission by extending coverage to billions of existing cellular devices. The applications range from connecting hikers in national parks, emergency responders, rural communities, remote sensors and devices, and people in emergency situations. Combined with new state-of-the-art satellite technologies, exclusive spectrum, and Starship's unprecedented payload capacity to low-Earth orbit in a single launch, Starlink Mobile's next generation service will deliver unparalleled performance to cell phones and IoT devices - helping to close coverage gaps and ultimately eliminate mobile dead zones around the world.

In this role, you will take ownership of the assigned telecom partner relationship following contract signing, while collaborating with stakeholders across engineering, business, and regulatory teams. The Partnerships Manager requires strong analytical skills to help drive customer adoption, contribute to new business models, and support accurate deployment forecasting. Success will require systems thinking, creativity, and excellent communication skills. This is an excellent opportunity to work at the cutting edge of satellite connectivity with a world-class team as we work to collectively advance our presence in the telecommunications market globally. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Support the full cycle of partnership deals between SpaceX and telecom partners, through system integration and commercial service launch
  • Perform analysis on system performance and report metrics, both internally and externally
  • Contribute to domestic and international partnerships, including technical, regulatory, product, and commercial discussions.
  • Support the development and execution of international expansion strategies- Help create partnership materials including playbooks, presentations, product documentation, case studies, and marketing collateral.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, regulatory, business development, etc.).
  • Stay current with internal technology, regulatory, and business updates to support commercial and marketing efforts.
  • Synthesize information and provide clear recommendations to leadership. 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline OR 5+ years of professional experience in; partnerships, technical account management or sales/pre-sales engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in partnerships, sales/pre-sales engineering, or technical account management

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • 3+ years of experience in technical partnerships or technical sales engineering.
  • Strong understanding of satellites, global telecommunications industry, and/or NTN and satellite-based systems
  • Strong interest in assessing market trends and identifying future business opportunities.
  • Desire to be customer-facing and build strong partner relationships.
  • Previous experience in engineering or technical role.
  • Experience managing enterprise accounts or contributing to revenue targets.
  • Experience with hardware, communications, networking, or IoT technologies.
  • Experience at a fast-growing technology startup is a plus. 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • This position is based in the Washington (Redmond/Woodinville) or Sunnyvale, CA and requires being onsite - remote work not considered
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends when needed.
  • Willingness to travel to other SpaceX offices, vendors, and customers (up to 40% travel). 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay Range:
Partnerships Manager: $115,000.00 - $155,000.00

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You will also receive access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year. Employees in Washington State accrue paid sick time in compliance with state and federal law. Company shuttles are offered to employees for roundtrip travel from select Seattle locations to the SpaceX Redmond office Monday to Friday.
