  • University Degree in Engineering, or Engineering Technology or equivalent work experience.
  • 10 years of experience in performing plan reviews, model code inspections to one or more of the US electrical, mechanical, building and fire codes preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge of codes, regulations and standards in assigned code related fields.
  • Detailed knowledge of code enforcement activities and code authority's use of certification and standards information.
  • Ability to assist in the execution of innovative solutions to resolve problems associated with code, standards or certification related issues.
  • Detailed knowledge of industry issues, needs, and problems.
  • Expertise in one or more of the US electrical, mechanical, building and fire codes desirable.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in multiple languages beneficial but not required. 
  • Strong communication skills.

What we offer:

  • Total Rewards:  We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $115,000-145,000 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 20% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours). 

Candidate needs to be located close to airport due to travel requirements.

Position in the UL Solutions Codes & Regulatory Services team open for an individual with solid technical skills. Will be interacting frequently with UL Solutions staff and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs).  

  • Performs code reviews, including plan review and on-site evaluation of prefabricated modular units which include complex electrical and mechanical systems. 
  • Provides UL staff and others with technical information on equipment applications covered by the installation codes and standards for which technical expertise, code development and code enforcement is required.
  • Participates in code and regulatory related projects of major magnitude and scope.
  • Resolves complex code and certification related issues.
  • Represents UL at meetings of outside organizations and provides presentations on a variety of code and certification related technical topics.
  • Travel, both domestic and international to support code and regulatory related projects
  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
  • Performs other duties as directed.
