Job description

Overview

Kurita America is part of the Kurita Group, one of the leading water solutions providers in the world. Established in 1949, the Kurita Group is comprised of an international network of approximately 8000 employees located in 18 countries. Located in Minneapolis, MN, Kurita America brings innovations to market through a holistic water management approach, incorporating state‑of‑the‑art equipment, chemistries, engineering, and services to conserve natural resources for a better, more sustainable world. Kurita’s corporate philosophy is to study the properties of water, master them and create an environment in which nature and humanity are in harmony.

We have an immediate need for a Piping BIM Engineer in the microelectronics/semiconductor space in the Phoenix area.

We are recruiting BIM (Building Information Modeling) engineers well‑versed in piping design for construction site projects. Responsibilities in this role include designing 3D models of piping aligned with P&ID, as well as coordinating and negotiating BIM through on‑site interactions with other companies. In this position, you will utilize Plant3D to visualize piping design, welding, quantity, and progress. You will be responsible for designing scaffolding and piping supports, creating 3D models, checking and eliminating interference using 3D models (specification management, catalog creation, interference checks).

Salary: $92K to $110K Travel: 10 to 49%

Responsibilities
  • Based on P&ID, develop 3D model designs for piping and supports.
  • Execution of collision detection and collaborative resolution.
  • Updating and managing model data including attribute information.
  • Collaborate with design and production teams to integrate data.
  • Ensuring compliance with BIM standards and modeling guidelines.
  • Creating 3D piping models that align with P&ID, including information such as pipe size, material, and quantity.
  • Specification management (piping class, diameter, material, standards).
  • Creating custom catalogs and specifications.
  • 3D model creation of installed equipment (rotators, heat exchangers, tower tanks, etc.).
  • Creation of 3D models of mounting and piping supports.
  • Interference checking and elimination using 3D models (advanced 3D piping design, specification management, catalog creation, interference checks).
  • For each spool (piping unit), data such as "manufacturing status," "welding completion status," and "on‑site installation status" is continuously tracked and understood (progress definition, dashboard creation, spool and welding progress management).
  • Using information contained in the 3D piping model, we extract piping lengths, fittings, and valve quantities "accurately."
  • Create a material list (BOM/MTO) from a 3D model, then output it by line, system, and area.
  • Verify and confirm whether quantities (BOM/MTO) created from 3D models can be used directly for procurement (ordering) and cost management (accurate quantity extraction from 3D, MTO creation, cost coordination).

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Expert users of Plant3D ('3D' refers to 3D data created with Plant3D).
  • The ability to independently set projects (specs, catalogs, steel materials).
  • Skills sufficient to fully understand the contents of piping material specifications (Able to fully understand standards, materials, types of fittings, connection methods, bolts/nuts, piping equipment, and types/characteristics of steel materials).
  • Practical experience in Plant3D project creation.
  • Practical experience in spec registration for piping parts and steel materials.
  • Bolt length can be automatically calculated to be entered at the appropriate length.
  • Practical experience in 3D modeling of installed equipment (rotators, heat exchangers, tower tanks, etc.).
  • Models of equipment based on delivery drawings (nozzle specifications can be accurately designed).
  • You can register nozzle specifications in the specs.
  • Practical experience in 3D modeling.
  • Based on P&ID and PLOT PLAN, you can select and model appropriate piping classes, fittings, and piping equipment from specifications.
  • Allows planning of piping routes considering workability (piping pitch, alignment, flange ratio, support, etc.).
  • Supports and piping supports can be planned and modeled using appropriate steel materials.
  • Constraint conditions can be set considering heat transfer for steam piping support.
  • Practical experience in welding definition and spool creation.
  • Practical experience in correctly defining weld locations on 3D piping models (distinguishing between factory/on‑site welding, weld numbers, welding specifications), cutting out spools (manufacturing units) based on these, and creating practical spool diagrams that can be used.
  • Ability to draft General Assembly and mounting drawings from 3D data.
  • Practical experience with Plant3D's 2D cropping function.
  • Practical experience extracting BQ (MTO/BOM) from 3D data.
  • Practical experience creating BOMs/MTOs (Lists of Materials) by hand using attribute and quantity data contained in 3D models.
  • Practical experience in revision management.
  • Manage 3D models and outputs with unified revision status.
  • Ability to build progress visualization systems.
  • Ability to define and aggregate progress based on design, fabrication, and construction progress data (3D/welding/quantity, etc.), and build a "visualization system" that can be used for management and customer reporting (practical experience with Excel and Power BI).
  • Practical experience with various functions in Navisworks Manage/Simulate.
  • Create Navisworks data from Plant3D data.
