Job description

As an International Division Supervisor, you will oversee the loading and processing of shipments and all documents required to move freight shipments to Puerto Rico.

Responsible for the daily communication and supervision of the Company’s office and dock associates working with the loading of Puerto Rico freight. Communicate directly with office and dock associates regarding what is needed for each day’s shipments.Communicate daily with the vessel operators regarding the loading and documentation of the Company’s Puerto Rico shipments and containers. Use knowledge related to shipping of hazardous materials to meet both Department of Transportation (DOT) and United States Customs requirements for each shipment. Communicate with ocean carriers as well as drivers and outsourced drayage companies as necessary. Maintain records and Log of all information related to containers moving through the international division. Maintain reports for monthly shipments delivered to the dock by other carriers. Work directly with logistics shippers, international service providers, and 3PL companies to obtain rates and documents. Also Work directly with national and international sales account associates. Directly Handle claims issues. Assist the VP – International Division with contract negotiations for ocean and drayage carriers. Directly supervise (hires, fires, disciplines, Develop, and establishes pay for) the International Shipping Coordinator and the Hazmat Coordinator. Approve and process all invoices for the international division and Maintain Quality Without Question (QWQ) reports. Fills in and assist office associates when necessary.

For this role, you will need to have a High School Diploma or GED, 3 years of experience on the dock, to include experience with shipping documentation and Hazmat requirements for Coast Guard regulations. We would prefer for you to have previous supervisory experience.
