Facility - Providence VA Healthcare System
The Providence VA Healthcare System is a comprehensive Veterans Affairs medical facility serving over 35,000 Veterans across Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. Part of VISN 1 (New England), the facility provides a full spectrum of inpatient and outpatient services including primary care, specialty medicine, surgery, mental health, and rehabilitation. The Radiology department is equipped with modern imaging technology including CT, MRI, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, and DEXA. The facility fosters a collaborative, team-oriented environment with a shared on-call rotation and strong support from the existing VA radiology staff.

Diagnostic Radiologist - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
- Provide comprehensive diagnostic radiology physician services including interpretation of imaging studies across multiple modalities.
- Perform and interpret CT, MRI, X-Ray, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, and DEXA examinations.
- Protocol examinations and prescribe contrast and medications in accordance with ACR guidelines.
- Interpret imaging studies with required turnaround: STAT within 1 hour, ASAP within 8 hours, and Routine within 48 hours.
- Communicate critical and urgent findings to ordering providers per departmental policy.
- Participate in multidisciplinary conferences and clinical consultations.
- Review consults, orders, and pre-review scheduled examinations for the next business day.
- Provide on-call coverage on a rotating basis including phone consultations and remote protocol support.
- Maintain compliance with ACR Practice Parameters and all applicable imaging safety standards.
Diagnostic Radiologist - REQUIREMENTS
- Must be a graduate of an LCME- or AOA-accredited medical school with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree.
- Must have completed an ACGME- or AOA-accredited residency in Diagnostic Radiology.
- Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). Board Eligible candidates must be within 5 years of residency completion without a failed board exam.
- Must have subspecialty experience in CT and/or MRI interpretation in at least one area: Body Imaging, Neuroradiology, or Musculoskeletal Radiology.
- Must have a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
- Must have current ACLS and BLS certifications.
- Must have an active DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances.
Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday. On-call coverage on a rotating basis (approximately one week per month).
