Job description

JOB SUMMARY
The Learning and Development Specialist (Learning Content and OJT) is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating learning programs and initiatives to foster employee development and enhance organizational performance that are specific to the position. This position partners closely with production leaders and department managers to ensure employees receive the training, resources, and support needed to perform successfully and safely in their roles.
The position will not only develop training content but will also be analytical, detail-oriented, and eager to learn new skills. This position monitors program effectiveness through both qualitative and quantitative measures, including training records, competency attainment, KPI alignment, employee interactions, and feedback from department managers throughout the organization.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys working with people, is highly organized and detail-oriented, and is comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Follow established safety protocols and guidelines to ensure full compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  2. Design and deliver training programs (onboarding, on-the-job, leadership development, and technical skills) based on organizational objectives.
  3. Design, develop, and deliver training programs that support employee development, operational effectiveness, regulatory compliance, and organizational objectives, including onboarding, on-the-job training (OJT), leadership development, technical skills, and professional development initiatives.
  4. Create, update, and maintain training materials, job aids, educational resources, presentations, and course content for instructor-led, hands-on, and computer-based learning environments.
  5. Partner with department managers and supervisors to identify training needs and develop structured training plans that support departmental goals and are aligned with the specific department and position.
  6. Conduct training needs assessments and skills gap analyses to identify opportunities for workforce development and performance improvement.
  7. Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, surveys, and other assessment tools and make recommendations for curriculum improvement.
  8. Maintain training records and ensure compliance with company, customer, regulatory, and audit requirements, including FAA Part 145 and other applicable industry standards.
  9. Monitor industry trends and best practices in learning and development to enhance organizational learning initiatives.
  10. Support employee development, career progression, and succession planning initiatives by providing guidance, resources, and visibility to internal development opportunities.
  11. Administer and maintain the Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring accurate tracking of training compliance, employee development, and training-related data.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bachelor's degree in Education, Learning and Development, Human Resources, Organizational Management, or a related field; or a minimum of two years of experience in a related role within a manufacturing or production environment.
  2. Two to three years of experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating training and professional development programs for young adults and adult learners or relevant experience in a training or educational environment.
  3. Demonstrated experience administering and maintaining a Learning Management System (LMS).
  4. Demonstrated strength and experience in project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively and efficiently.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with many different stakeholders.
  2. Previous experience as a mentor, coach, instructor, or trainer.
  3. Excellent problem-solving abilities.
  4. Ability to read, write, speak, understand English, and be able to effectively communicate with other employees.
  5. Proficiency with software programs commonly used in training and development, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and content authoring tools such as Articulate or similar platforms.
  6. Experience in technical writing and editing documents that support employee training and production operations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  1. Safety Sensitive Environment: the successful candidate will be required to follow general shop safety procedures including the occasional use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection.
  2. Work standing and/or sitting during a normal shift.
  3. May be required to occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds.
