Job description

We are seeking a highly experienced and licensed Civil Engineer to join our team as an Industrial Development Lead Practice Manager. The ideal candidate will have more than 10 years of hands-on experience in the civil engineering field, with a strong technical background in Industrial development projects. This individual should be adept at leading and mentoring teams of engineers, possess exceptional client relationship management skills, and have a proven track record in business development.
Project Leadership:
Provide strategic leadership in the planning, design, and execution of complex industrial development projects.
  • Oversee and manage project teams, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality engineering solutions while adhering to plans, schedules, timelines, and budgets.
  • Coordinate with various support staff, municipalities, and clients to ensure accurate and timely information flow.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met throughout the project lifecycle.

Technical Expertise:
  • Leverage experience and practical engineering skills to expertly supervise, direct, and/or perform site grading and drainage and storm water management for large industrial sites, heavy haul road and access design, Utility infrastructure, site layout and planning for warehouses, manufacturing and distribution centers.
  • Perform all duties in strict adherence to local, state, federal, and international building codes, guidelines, and best practices to ensure that every project complies with safety and environmental standards.
  • Analyze and implement best practices in engineering design utilizing advanced computer aided drafting software and mapping, including but not limited to Civil3D and GIS.
  • Contribute to the solution-oriented culture of SEG by thinking critically to solve challenging engineering problems.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and innovations, integrating new technologies into project workflows.

Team Development:
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Provide guidance on technical challenges, professional development, and career advancement opportunities for team members.

Client Relationship Management:
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients through effective communication, understanding their needs, and delivering solutions that exceed expectations.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing expert insights and recommendations to enhance project outcomes.
  • Business Development:
  • Lead and own the business development efforts within the Industrial Profit Center, ensuring a robust portfolio of clients and projects that supports the success of the department.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, contributing to the growth and expansion of the firm.
  • Collaborate with business development teams to prepare proposals, participate in client presentations, and win new projects.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Advanced degree (Master's or MBA) is highly desirable.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, with a focus on Industrial development projects. Project list must be provided.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing engineering teams.
  • Exceptional technical expertise in civil engineering principles, design practices, construction methods, and local regulations.
  • Strong client relationship management skills with a demonstrated ability to understand and fulfill client needs.
  • Experience in business development, including proposal preparation, client presentations, and successful project acquisition.
  • Business Acumen: Strong understanding of business development, financial management, and strategic planning.
