Preschool and Childcare Assistant Instructor Needed

ACES International Preschool and Childcare Center

Woodbury, CT

Job Brief

ACES International Preschool and Childcare Center is seeking an assistant instructor to support the head instructor in creating an engaging preschool classroom environment that is safe and caring. The assistant instructor will ensure the learning and the personal growth of every student; establish effective rapport with students; and maintain good relationships with parents, staff members, and community members.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate loves children.

Must be 18 years of age

• Minimum of 1-2 years of professional child care experience.

• Understanding of child development.

• High energy.

• Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification. (preferred but not required)

• Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.

• Bilingual: English and Spanish (preferred but not required)

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalency

Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, Associate's or Bachelor's Degree is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Creating a safe and nurturing environment where children can play, learn, and grow.

• Ensuring all safety and security protocols are followed.

• Working with staff and students to develop small and large group learning experiences that encourage experimentation, exploration, problem solving, cooperation, socialization and decision-making.

• Communicating regularly with parents/families, sharing children’s achievements through Procare.com

Physical Demands

• Must adhere to all CT State guidelines and ACES International Preschool and Childcare Center policies and procedures regarding immunizations, physical exam, and required health and safety training such as CPR, First Aid, and Administration of Medications, as well as all Covid-19 related guidelines as revised due to pandemic conditions and response.

• Must have the physical ability to participate indoor and outdoor activities that may include lifting, moving or holding children from 20-60 pounds as well as walking, squatting, climbing and sitting on the floor.

• Must be able to maintain mental and physical alertness and respond quickly to emergency situations.

Salary: $17 - $19 per hour
