Job description

Overview
We are seeking a full-time Motion Designer 2 at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for concepting, designing, and producing compelling motion graphics for use online, in-store, in-house, and in television broadcast.
Essential Functions
  • Work in conjunction with other Motion Graphic Designers to accomplish larger initiatives
  • Work with the Creative Team to concept marketing materials that engage and educate customers about Garmin features and benefits
  • Storyboard, design, and produce animations which clearly explain the features and benefits of new and emerging technologies/devices
  • Work with Communications, Marketing, and Engineering staff to plan, manage, and complete requested projects
  • Work with project managers to hit critical project due dates
  • Remain current on new motion graphics trends and traditional design disciplines
  • Stay abreast of new tools/techniques as related to motion graphics and video production
  • Develop as a Motion Designer by leveraging the expertise of fellow team members, tutorials, and targeted education

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Motion Graphic Design/Animation or related degree AND a minimum of 1 year of experience OR an equivalent combination of education and years of experience
  • Must possess a willingness to adapt to new tasks each day
  • Must possess experience presenting concepts/projects to clients in a way they can understand visual concepts
  • Must possess demonstrated ability to plan projects breadth - balancing quality, deadline and need
  • Must possess a portfolio or reel demonstrating exceptional understanding and use of motion, imagery, layout, color, and typography
  • Must possess experience with Adobe After Effects, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Must possess experience in visual effects such as motion tracking, rotoscoping and compositing
  • Demonstrated proficiency with PC and Mac operating systems
  • Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, work well with others, and be flexible/able to work accurately in a fast pace environment
  • Must be detail-oriented, have the ability to work proactively/independently with minimal supervision, possess strong organizational skills, and have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks

Desired Qualifications
  • Cinema 4D, 3DS Max or equivalent experience
  • Mocha Pro experience
  • Adobe Premiere Pro experience
  • Previous experience in Visual Communications, Graphic Design, Advertising, or Marketing
