PRODUCT MANAGER— SYSTEMS

Reports to: VP of Systems (Jordan Brandley)

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Systems team builds internal tools and infrastructure that the entire business depends on. Without a dedicated Product Manager, engineering work gets fragmented by the loudest voice in the room. This role exists to fix that. As PM for Systems, you will own the internal product roadmap, translate business requests into engineering work, manage the backlog, and protect engineering focus so the team builds the right things in the right order.

This is a hands-on, execution-focused PM role — not a strategy or MBA role. You will write specs, groom the backlog, run intake, facilitate prioritization, and be the connective tissue between business stakeholders and engineering.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Systems Roadmap — Maintain and communicate the prioritized roadmap across all engineering and BI initiatives; align VP of Systems and stakeholders on sequencing and trade-offs
  • Backlog Management — Own the backlog; write clear user stories and specs; ensure engineers always have well-defined, ready-to-build tickets
  • Cross-Team Intake — Run the intake process for new requests from Finance, Operations, Marketing, eCommerce, and other teams; triage, size, and prioritize against the roadmap
  • Spec Writing — Translate business needs into detailed, unambiguous engineering specs; reduce back-and-forth between stakeholders and engineers
  • Sprint Facilitation — Facilitate sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and reviews in coordination with the VP of Systems
  • Stakeholder Communication — Keep business teams informed on delivery status; manage expectations on timelines and scope
  • Dependency Tracking — Surface blockers, cross-team dependencies, and risks early; keep projects moving


QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3–6 years in a product management role, preferably for internal tools, data platforms, or engineering teams supporting business operations
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear, complete specs that engineers can execute without constant clarification
  • Experience running agile/scrum ceremonies and managing a product backlog (Jira, Linear, or equivalent)
  • Strong systems thinking: able to see how a request in one area affects other systems and teams
  • Comfort operating in a lean environment where you do the work rather than direct others to
  • Experience working with ecommerce, supply chain, finance, or operations systems is a plus
  • Ability to say no diplomatically and defend prioritization decisions with data and reasoning
