Amongst some of the earliest innovators in the field of driverless technology, Forterra is focused on building systems that protect front-line soldiers and enable civilian workers in our industrial base. Forterra is the go-to provider of ground autonomy solutions for the U.S. Department of Defense, which harnesses the technology for asymmetric warfare in critical conditions.

What you'll do
  • This role sits on the DevOps and Tooling team and works closely with vehicle integration engineers, production teams, and program lead.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Experience with Rust (1+ years) or strong systems programming background with willingness
    to learn Rust.
  • Experience with TypeScript and React (or similar frontend framework).
  • Systemd service management.
  • Networking fundamentals (SSH, TCP/IP).
  • Experience with Docker (building images, container workflows).
  • Experience with CI/CD systems (GitLab CI, Jenkins, or equivalent).
  • Ability to debug issues across application, OS, and network laye rs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Tauri framework for desktop application development.
  • Familiarity with configuration management concepts (Ansible a plus but not required).
  • Experience with embedded Linux or edge deployment environments (Jetson/Orin, ARM64).
  • Experience with vehicle systems, robotics, or defense programs.
  • Experience with AWS (S3, IAM, EC2).
  • Familiarity with Conan package manager or C/C++ build toolchains.
Education & Experience
  • 3-5+ years of professional software engineering experience.

US Salary Range
$125,000.00 -$140,000.00

The salary range for this role is an estimate and is based on a wide variety of compensation factors. The salary offered to candidates will vary based on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) relevant work experience, education, specialized training, critical expertise, training, and more. Equity in Forterra is included in most of our full-time, high-demand roles and is therefore considered part of Forterra’s overall compensation package. In addition to base salary and equity, Forterra offers competitive benefits for full-time employees including:
