To thrive as an Internal Control Manager, you need a strong background in accounting, auditing, risk management, and a relevant degree such as finance or business administration, often complemented by certifications like CPA or CIA. Familiarity with internal control frameworks (such as COSO), ERP systems, and data analytics tools is commonly required. Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication are vital soft skills for identifying process weaknesses and collaborating across departments. These skills ensure robust internal controls, compliance with regulations, and the safeguarding of organizational assets.
