Job Description

The Audit Associate reviews and analyzes payroll, tax, and accounting records to determine the appropriate premium base for multiple insurance lines, including Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, and Professional Liability. This role gathers detailed information on business operations and employee job duties, completes audit worksheets using Excel templates, and processes audit findings in a centralized database. The position offers a structured path for professional growth in a collaborative environment with a hybrid work schedule and strong benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze payroll, tax, and accounting records to determine accurate premium bases for insurance lines such as Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, and Professional Liability.
  • Obtain clear and detailed descriptions of business operations and employee job duties over the phone and through email.
  • Clarify and document other relevant information from clients to support accurate audit conclusions.
  • Complete audit worksheets using established Excel templates, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all entries.
  • Work within existing pivot tables and VLOOKUPs in Excel to reconcile data and support audit calculations.
  • Reconcile payroll, tax, and accounting data to identify discrepancies and ensure consistency across records.
  • Process audit findings in the company’s database, following established procedures and documentation standards.
  • Apply auditing principles to evaluate financial records, identify issues, and support appropriate premium determinations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams as needed to resolve questions, clarify data, and finalize audit results.
  • Maintain organized, accurate records and documentation for each audit in compliance with internal guidelines.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or business administration, or a closely related business field.
  • Experience with auditing, including reviewing financial records and supporting audit conclusions.
  • Experience performing reconciliations of payroll, tax, or accounting data.
  • Ability to work within already created pivot tables and VLOOKUPs in Excel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and audit worksheet completion.
  • Familiarity with payroll, tax, and accounting concepts relevant to audit work.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing and entering financial data.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for obtaining information via phone and email.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • GPA above 3.0 for candidates with a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or business administration.
  • Associate’s degree combined with 2+ years of experience in auditing, accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), payroll, or general ledger (GL) accounting.
  • Experience working with insurance-related audits, including Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, or Professional Liability, is beneficial.
  • Ability to manage multiple audits and deadlines while maintaining high-quality work.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain thorough documentation.

Work Environment

The role is based in a modern office in Jenkins Township, PA, with a hybrid work schedule that combines remote and onsite work. During the first 1–2 weeks, you will work remotely for onboarding and training, after which you will follow a regular schedule of working onsite on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and remotely for three days each week.
