Job Description: Jira Administrator – Instance Merger
Role Focused on Merging Two Jira Instances into a Unified Platform
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Jira Administrator with a proven track record of managing and migrating Jira environments. This role is dedicated to leading the consolidation of two separate Jira instances into a single, unified system. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in Jira administration, excellent problem-solving skills, and experience in complex data migrations and system integrations.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and execute the merger of two Jira instances, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime.
• Analyze existing Jira configurations, workflows, custom fields, plugins, and user permissions in both instances.
• Develop a detailed migration strategy and timeline, including risk assessments and contingency plans.
• Perform data mapping, transformation, and migration of projects, issues, attachments, and metadata.
• Resolve conflicts between instance configurations, schemes, and customizations.
• Test the merged instance for functionality, performance, and security.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including project managers, developers, and IT teams, to gather requirements and communicate progress.
• Provide post-merger support, troubleshooting, and documentation.
• Train users on changes in workflows, permissions, and new features post-merger.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies and data governance standards throughout the migration process.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of hands-on Jira administration experience, including managing complex configurations and migrations.
• Demonstrated experience in merging or migrating Jira instances (AWS cloud).
