  • The IT Infrastructure Engineering Intern will support the planning, development, implementation, and operations of enterprise IT infrastructure solutions while working in an Agile team environment.
  • This role provides hands-on experience across infrastructure engineering, cloud technologies, software development, IT service management, workplace collaboration technologies, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • The Intern will collaborate with cross-functional teams, infrastructure engineers, developers, architects, vendors, and business stakeholders to support the delivery of innovative IT solutions that align with business requirements and BMW standards.
  • The position combines technical infrastructure responsibilities with modern software development practices, providing exposure to enterprise cloud platforms, Microsoft 365 technologies, Agile methodologies, and application development.
  • Support the setup, configuration, maintenance, and administration of enterprise IT infrastructure solutions.
  • Assist in planning, implementing, and supporting Microsoft 365 technologies including Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Power Platform, and related cloud services.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, customers, and interface partners to gather and document requirements.
  • Support Agile development processes including backlog grooming, sprint planning, EPIC creation, user story development, and Agile ceremonies.
  • Assist as an Agile team coordinator and provide support for Scrum and Agile methodologies.
  • Develop and enhance web-based applications utilizing existing frameworks and enterprise platforms.
  • Support application development activities including frontend, backend, database, and API integration work.
  • Create and maintain data models, system documentation, technical specifications, and solution designs.
  • Assist in Proof of Concept (POC) activities for emerging technologies and infrastructure solutions.
  • Support system monitoring, capacity planning, forecasting, and scalability recommendations.
  • Participate in infrastructure lifecycle management activities including upgrades, patches, maintenance, backups, disaster recovery, and high-availability initiatives.
  • Support operational processes related to infrastructure services, incident management, change management, and configuration management.
  • Assist in the integration of multi-vendor technology solutions while maintaining a vendor-agnostic approach.
  • Collaborate with global infrastructure teams, technical experts, and operational stakeholders to ensure compliance with established standards and procedures.
  • Analyze operational metrics, service reports, and performance data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of secure, reliable, and scalable infrastructure solutions aligned with BMW standards.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, lessons learned, best practices, and knowledge-sharing materials.
  • Present technical concepts and project updates to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support innovation initiatives and research emerging technologies, cloud services, automation opportunities, and industry trends.
  • Participate in project delivery activities and support other technical assignments based on business priorities and project demand during the work term.

Qualifications:
  • Desired majors: Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.

  • Familiarity with web application development frameworks and modern development practices.
  • Basic understanding of database concepts and experience working with SQL and relational databases.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms, enterprise IT infrastructure, networking, information systems, or end-user technologies.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies, tools, and programming languages as required.
  • Experience working with vendors, stakeholders, or cross-functional teams is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Program Requirements
  • Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major).
  • Have enrolled student status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
  • Completed at least 30 credit hours at the time of application.
  • Ability to complete three work terms for Co-op positions.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours per week).
  • Transfer students must have a GPA from their current university.
  • MUST ATTACH A COPY OF AN UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT.
  • Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
  • Work dates: January 11, 2027 thru May 14,2027.
