JOB TITLEWeb Developer IIIJOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARYThe Web Developer serves as the primary technical lead for Florida Polytechnic University's web presence and is responsible for developing, maintaining, optimizing, and continually enhancing the University's websites and digital platforms. As part of the Strategic Communications team, this position collaborates closely with marketing, communications, admissions, academic departments, and campus stakeholders to create responsive, user-friendly, and brand-consistent web experiences that support the University's strategic goals.
This role manages the day-to-day operation of the University's WordPress content management system, including user permissions, content governance, functionality enhancements, troubleshooting, accessibility compliance, analytics integration, search engine optimization, and third-party system integrations. The Web Developer is also responsible for implementing website content updates and ensuring the University's digital presence remains modern, innovative, and aligned with leading trends, technologies, and best practices in higher education web development. Working closely with the Information Technology team, this position helps maintain the performance, security, reliability, and usability of the University's web environment while supporting a fast-paced and evolving digital ecosystem.JOB DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the University's sole web developer responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and optimization of Florida Polytechnic University's multiple websites and digital platforms.
  • Create and implement new website layouts, landing pages, templates, and user experiences utilizing Elementor within the WordPress content management system.
  • Manage the day-to-day administration of the University's WordPress environment, including user permissions, workflows, plugin management, content governance, and system functionality.
  • Manage and maintain the University's centralized web calendar system, including integrations with departmental and campus calendars to support a unified University-wide events calendar experience.
  • Coordinate with campus departments and stakeholders to ensure calendar events, feeds, and event information are accurate, consistent, and properly integrated across University digital platforms.
  • Manage the content, scheduling, and functionality of digital screens and display systems across campus to support University communications, events, emergency messaging, and student engagement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Strategic Communications, Admissions, academic departments, and campus stakeholders to develop visually engaging, user-friendly, and brand-consistent web experiences that support institutional goals.
  • Implement and maintain website content updates, ensuring information across University web properties remains accurate, accessible, and up to date.
  • Work closely with the Information Technology team to maintain the performance, reliability, security, and usability of the University's web environment and related integrations.
  • Monitor and implement emerging web technologies, design trends, accessibility standards, and best practices in higher education digital environments to ensure the University's website remains modern and innovative.
  • Troubleshoot website issues and provide technical support related to functionality, integrations, user access, and content management.
  • Optimize website performance through search engine optimization (SEO), analytics tracking, responsive design, and continuous usability improvements.
  • Coordinate and maintain third-party integrations, forms, analytics tools, accessibility tools, and other digital services connected to the University website ecosystem.
  • Ensure University websites comply with institutional brand standards, accessibility requirements, and digital communication best practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in web development, computer science, information technology, or a relevant field
  • 2 years of experience in web development, website administration, or digital platform management.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered in lieu of the degree.
  • Experience developing and managing websites within WordPress, including page builders such as Elementor.
  • In lieu of a degree, any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional web development experience in a higher education setting.
  • Experience serving as the lead or primary administrator for an enterprise-level WordPress environment.
  • Graphic Design experience and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (i.e., Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
  • Experience in search engine optimization and analytics monitoring.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong knowledge of WordPress website development and content management systems, including experience with Elementor page builder and modern website design practices.
  • Knowledge of responsive web design, user experience (UX) principles, accessibility standards, SEO best practices, and web performance optimization.
  • Understanding of website hosting environments, security protocols, plugin management, analytics platforms, and third-party system integrations.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging web technologies, digital trends, and best practices within higher education and marketing communications environments.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and basic web development principles.
  • Experience managing website content updates, workflows, permissions, and governance across a multi-user web environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve website functionality and usability issues.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Strategic Communications, Information Technology, academic departments, and campus stakeholders on web-related initiatives and projects.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Ability to analyze website analytics and user behavior data to improve website performance, engagement, and usability.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail while ensuring brand consistency and content accuracy across University web properties.

    REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF LAW:

    • Must possess a valid driver's license.
    • This position requires a criminal background check.
    • This position is subject to federal and state privacy regulations.

    NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: This position is salaried and exempt. The normal work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. However, occasional overtime (weekends and evenings) may be required. This position includes hybrid remote-work opportunities.

    LOCATION/WORK MODEL: Full-time/On-site

    Note: Employment-based visa sponsorship will NOT be considered for this position.

    TARGET HIRING SALARY: $85,000 - 94,000, commensurate with experience.
