Schedule: Monday-Friday; weekends as needed

Our team supports a wide range of industries through professional installation services, technical support, and project-based deployments across multiple locations.


Position Overview

The Service & Installation Team Lead is responsible for leading field technicians in the installation, service, maintenance, and commissioning of low-voltage security systems. This position serves as the primary field leader, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within scope, and in accordance with Company standards and client expectations. The Team Lead is expected to provide technical guidance, oversee daily field operations, coordinate manpower and materials, maintain quality standards, and serve as the primary liaison between field personnel, project management, and clients. This position is both a working leader and mentor, expected to lead by example while actively participating in installations and service work.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop installation and service technicians.
  • Assign daily work responsibilities and monitor team productivity.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, professionalism, and teamwork.
  • Conduct field coaching and provide ongoing performance feedback.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new technicians.
  • Escalate employee performance concerns to management as appropriate.

Project Execution

  • Coordinate daily installation and service activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within scope.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and work orders prior to deployment.
  • Monitor installation quality and verify work meets company and client standards.
  • Coordinate project schedules with Project Managers and Operations.
  • Identify project risks and proactively communicate delays or challenges.
  • Monitor, prioritize, and respond to assigned service tickets in a timely manner, ensuring service requests are addressed in accordance with Company and client expectations.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, test, troubleshoot, commission, maintain, and service Company-supported low-voltage systems, platforms, and technologies, including but not limited to:
    • Access Control
    • CCTV / Video Surveillance
    • Intrusion Detection
    • Structured Cabling
    • Audio/Visual Systems
    • Network-Connected Security Devices
    • Artificial Intelligence (AI) Security Solutions
    • Gunshot Detection Systems
    • Other security technologies, software platforms, and integrated systems assigned by the Company Verify proper system functionality before project completion.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including redlines, test reports, and completion records.

Quality Control

  • Perform routine job site inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with installation standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Verify proper cable management, labeling, programming, and testing.
  • Address deficiencies before project completion.

Client Relations

  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and other trades.
  • Provide project updates and communicate schedule changes.
  • Resolve field concerns professionally and escalate issues when appropriate.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Coordinate tools, equipment, materials, and inventory.
  • Ensure technicians accurately record time worked and project documentation.
  • Maintain Company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Promote compliance with all Company policies and safety requirements.
  • Monitor Company-issued communication devices and remain available to respond to work-related calls, service requests, and operational issues while on-call or during assigned working hours.
  • Maintain timely communication with management, technicians, and clients regarding project status, service issues, and operational needs.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and Company safety procedures.
  • Conduct work in accordance with applicable building codes, manufacturer requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Immediately report safety incidents, property damage, or workplace injuries.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Silver Star Technology leadership.
Requirements:

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years of experience installing and servicing low-voltage security systems.
  • 2+ years of leadership or crew lead experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of access control, CCTV, structured cabling, and intrusion systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and mobile technology.

Preferred

  • Manufacturer certifications (Genetec, LenelS2, Avigilon, Milestone, Brivo, Verkada, etc.).
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Lift certification.
  • Networking experience.

Schedule & Availability

This position requires flexibility based on business and client needs.

  • Travel to customer sites throughout assigned territories.
  • Work overtime, evenings, weekends, or overnight shifts when necessary.
  • Carry a Company-issued phone (or approved communication device) and remain reasonably available to respond to work-related calls, service requests, and emergencies, as operational needs require.
  • Travel with limited notice based on operational demands.
  • Report to various job sites rather than a fixed reporting location.

Physical Requirements

The essential functions of this position require the ability to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Climb ladders and work at varying heights.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Bend, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Safely operate Company vehicles.
