Location: BigBear.ai Performance Center at Commanders Park
Dates of Internship: September 2026 - May 2027
Job Summary:
The Intern, Social Media supports the Washington Commanders' digital presence by assisting with content creation and scheduling for all brand primary and ancillary social media accounts. This role also represents the brand at community events, youth football initiatives and home games, capturing engaging moments that connect with fans across platforms. By contributing to consistent and on-brand content, the Intern, Social Media helps strengthen fan engagement and reinforces the organization's community-focused mission.
This position will regularly collaborate with all members of the Content team, including Video, Studio, Photography, Creative, as well as other departments including but not limited to Marketing, Public Relations, Sponsorship, Youth Football and Community Relations. The position will also be relied on to regularly assess and adjust the club's on-going social strategy. The ideal candidate is a creative, clever and motived self-starter who has a strong attention to detail and thrives in the fast-paced environment of sports.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Social Media Team in creation and development of content to distribute across all social media platforms, including a focus on our ancillary accounts (Community Relations, Northwest Stadium and Major Tuddy)
  • Contribute to the ideation, planning and creation of social media content that supports the club's editorial calendar and daily publishing strategy.
  • Help maintain and execute the Washington Commanders' brand voice across all social media channels.
  • Partner with Community Relations and Youth Football teams to support initiatives that grow participation in flag football throughout the DMV.
  • Research and identify potential influencer and creator partnerships to expand the Commanders' social reach and engage new audiences.
  • Monitor social media platforms for relevant and timely opportunities to appropriately interact with fans, players and brands
  • Track key performance metrics to help monitor success and areas of improvement for all social initiatives
  • Collaborate with stakeholders from multiple departments within the organization to achieve key business objectives, with a focus on community relations and youth football initiatives
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, while keeping organized and maintaining high standards in all work
  • Work closely within a social media team consisting of a Senior Manager that the role directly reports to as well as alongside two Coordinators
  • Assist with other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • Candidate must be pursuing a degree or be up to 1-year post-grad.
  • Must be able to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Capacity to think creatively and contribute new ideas.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Able to edit video/graphics in Adobe Premiere/Photoshop
  • Detail-oriented and strong organization and project management skills.
  • Must possess superior writing skills and editorial judgment.
