Job description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting a part-time engineering student intern who is currently enrolled in engineering courses at an accredited university. The position is available in any of our Florida offices (Tampa , Lakeland, Gainesville, Orlando, Jacksonville,  Pensacola, West Palm Beach, and Tallahassee) and will support our Water Resources group.  Support will be provided for tasks including watershed management, field engineering support tasks, stormwater design, environmental compliance, investigation reporting, wetland restoration, and water quality restoration projects. The ideal candidate is currently enrolled at an accredited four-year college or university. Experience with classes utilizing hydraulic and hydrologic modeling concepts is beneficial.  Experience with data management, statistical analysis, and technical writing is a bonus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organizing, presenting data analysis
  • Presenting findings for internal and external clients
  • Performs standard or routine calculations;
  • Prepare / assist in the preparation of permit applications and supporting materials
  • Follow company safety policies and procedures, site safety standards and permit requirements
  • Prepares technical data and supporting materials for reports documenting the work performed and findings of investigations
  • Compiles information from reports and published documents; Evaluates and/or analyses the compiled information following standard methods and best engineering judgement

Skills / Qualifications
  • Engineering classes related to water resources
  • Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in related field at an accredited four-year college or university
  • Experience conducting data analyses with statistical software desired
  • Must have sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in varying environments (office, lab and field settings)
  • Ability to swim
  • Demonstrated professional judgment, consistency and attention to detail to provide quality work products
  • Demonstrated experience working successfully in a team environment, whether it be remotely or locally
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required
  • Ability to establish effective internal and external working relationships
  • Ability to communicate clearly with clients or supervisor and other project managers regarding project expectations and requirements
  • Valid Florida driver's license; and must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
