POSITION TITLE: ย Development & Events Intern (Fall Semester)ย 

POSITION TYPE: ย Internship (Unpaid)ย 

REPORTS TO: ย Events Managerย 

AGENCY/LOCATION: ย The Child Advocacy Center of Greater Rochester*ย 

*Reliable transportation is necessary, as local travel is required
ย 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION/ POSITION OVERVIEW:ย 

The Development & Events Intern will work directly with The Child Advocacy Center of Greater Rochester's (The CAC's) Development team to solicit in-kind gifts, assist with event logistics, volunteer coordination, community outreach opportunities, marketing initiatives, and donor engagement. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized and motivated individual to develop skills in nonprofit development, marketing, fundraising, and to learn about The CAC.ย 


This is an unpaid internship with a flexible schedule, lasting from September 2026-December 2026 with the ability to adjust start and end date based on student availability.ย 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Marketing & Communications

Assist in coordinating social media and marketing campaigns

Support email marketing efforts (newsletters, appeals, event promotions)

Assist in website updates

Assist in designing graphics aligned with The CAC brandingย 

Community Outreach

Conduct in-depth research on funding possibilities for fundraising events

Represent the agency at community and corporate events

Assist with research, planning and implementation of third-party events and community outreach initiatives

Special Events

Assist with in-kind coordination

Assist with set-up and break-down of events

Support volunteer coordinationย 

Assist in the preparation and organization of event materials, including signage, decor, auction items, and other event-related assets

Development

Support donor stewardship efforts and communicationsย 

Conduct research on funding opportunities and support the development of grant proposalsย 

Other administrative duties as assignedย 

Requirements

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate proficiency in meeting competencies required for the position; and able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations. ย The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.ย 


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Currently enrolled in a degree program in Communications, Marketing, Hospitality, Business, Nonprofit Management, or other related field

Previous coursework or experience in fundraising, marketing, non-profit management, social services, or community outreach


SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Must be comfortable with outreach and follow up to sponsors and community partners (including telephone communications)ย 

Be responsible, hard-working, ethical, and committed to the mission of The CAC

Possess a high level of organizational skills and be detail-oriented

Possess solid oral and written communication skills

Computer proficient with computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite)

Ability to multitask

Interest in a nonprofit career - particularly development and fundraising


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:ย 

A confidentiality statement must be signed

Background check must be cleared

Mandated Reporter training must be completed


TIME COMMITMENT:

The minimum requirement is 10 weeks for a minimum of 120 hours

Hours are flexible within 9am-4pm. range, Monday through Friday

Evenings and weekends as needed
