To thrive as an Intern in a rotation, you need a solid academic background in your field, strong organizational skills, and the willingness to learn. Familiarity with industry-specific tools, basic software like Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, and, in some cases, specialized platforms relevant to the rotation are valuable. Being proactive, adaptable, and demonstrating strong communication and teamwork skills help you stand out. You'll likely have regular check-ins with mentors or managers, and may participate in group projects or training sessions. The varied experiences and feedback you receive are valuable for building a strong foundation and can help you identify potential career paths within the company.

What are Intern Rotations?

Job description

We are looking for a Supply Chain Intern to join our growing team!
At PDI, our goal is to always be committed to providing quality products with prompt, efficient, courteous service in all segments of our business. We pride ourselves in keeping flexibility of procedures and policy at the forefront so that customer needs are always satisfied.
Since 1973, we have maintained our position as a leader in the wholesale distribution industry and offer first-class service to customers in the residential and commercial plumbing industries, as well as home builders, interior designers, remodelers, and homeowners. We operate 19 branch locations and 13 showrooms throughout Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina.
Function: PDI's Supply Chain Internship Program offers operational leadership and development opportunities by providing first-hand insight into each cross-functional team within our supply chain network.
As a Supply Chain Intern, you will work side-by-side with team members and leadership from each of our branch operations teams. During this time, you will assist with the intake and shipment of material using our Warehouse Management System, lead the shipping and receiving departments, and manage inventory using data from our ERP system.
Our internship program offers operational leadership experience by providing one-on-one time with our Branch Managers. During this time, you will work with managers to monitor the productivity of our operations teams, manage communications with our sales teams to ensure branches are providing the appropriate operational support, review inventory reports, resolve inventory discrepancies, and review daily sales reports.
Our internship teaches participants how to interpret data through a series of rotations with our Purchasing and E-Commerce teams. During your time with the Purchasing team, you will understand the strategies used to move material between branches, understand how to monitor reordering points for specific products and understand how to interpret the movement of materials. In E-commerce, you will be able to identify the concepts and principles used to manage online content, update product information, and produce online sales. Those that participate in our program will leave with an understanding of the functions that are vital to the flow of a successful supply chain, and the methods used to lead branch operations.

  • Shadow management on a branch level to learn the ins and outs of day-to-day operations.
  • Assist our purchasing team in procuring material, creating transfer orders, and monitoring the movement of material.
  • Assist our E-Commerce team to manage online content, update product information, and produce online sales.
