ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Information Security Intern will support the Information Security Program by assisting with foundational risk, security, and governance activities across the Credit Union. Under close supervision, the intern will gain exposure to real-world information security operations, regulatory expectations, and risk management practices while contributing to initiatives that protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data. This internship is designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experience while fostering a security-minded culture and supporting the Credit Union's strategic objectives.


WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  1. Assists in maintaining risk management tools and documentation, including exposure to risk assessments, and risk reporting concepts.
  2. Observes and supports reporting activities that analyze trends, risks and control effectiveness.
  3. Assists with maintaining and reviewing information security policies and procedures to ensure alignment with regulatory guidance and industry best practices.

  5. Assists with educational and awareness initiatives that promote a strong security culture and shared responsibility across the organization.
  6. Contributes to Business Continuity and resilience efforts through documentation support, training preparation or tabletop exercise assistance.
  7. Participates in user access review activities, learning how access controls support least-privilege and reduce risk.
  8. Learns how Information Security functions as a strategic business partner by enabling innovation while protecting sensitive data and maintaining compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Risk Management, Information Assurance, Audit, or a related field.


Experience/Skills/Knowledge:

  1. Must have a strong interest in information security, risk management or compliance.
  2. Must have good organizational skills, show attention to detail and possess analytical thinking skills with a willingness to learn information security concepts.
  3. Must have strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  4. Must have a strong service orientation in alignment with the credit union's mission and core values.
  5. Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks, follow instructions, and work in a confidential environment.
  6. PC proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general computer literacy required.
  7. Must have the ability to work in an office environment and use standard office equipment (fax, copier, phone, etc.).
  8. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (e.g., files) and travel locally if needed.
