Job description

Grapevine Faith Christian School exists to develop and graduate authentic Christian leaders.


Position Summary:

Prayerfully help students think, live, love and lead as a Christian through the delivery of subject matter, skills, and attitudes that will contribute to the students' development as mature, able, and responsible Christian men and women to the praise and glory of God. The teacher shall reflect the purpose of the school to honor Christ in every class and in every activity. The teacher will report to the departmental Administrator.


Status: Exempt / 10-month - Part Time (1 class)


Responsibilities:


  1. Seeks to model in speech, actions, and attitude, a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ.
  2. Lead engaging and innovative lessons aligned with the College Board AP Computer Science Principles framework.
  3. Prepare students for success on the AP Computer Science Principles Exam and Performance Tasks on the AP Exam.
  4. Teach foundational topics including algorithms, programming, data sourcing, cybersecurity, and the societal impact of technology.
  5. Foster a classroom culture where students feel challenged, supported, and inspired to explore new ideas.
  6. Lead thoughtful conversations about digital citizenship, ethics, artificial intelligence, privacy, and the role of technology in modern life.
  7. Plans creative, individualized instruction that challenges students to excel while nurturing their spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional development
  8. Demonstrate subject expertise through standards-aligned instruction and accurate content delivery.
  9. Differentiate instruction to support learners with varying levels of technical experience and confidence.
  10. Collaborate with colleagues and contribute actively to the life and mission of our Christ centered school community.
  11. Provides input and recommendations for administrative and managerial functions in the school.
  12. Follows established school policies, procedures and guidelines in a spirit of positive cooperation.
  13. Sets time aside for scheduling parent/student conferences to promote learning skills of the child.
  14. Maintains a personal appearance that is a role model of cleanliness, modesty, and good taste.
  15. Utilizes educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth and seeks the counsel of the administrator, colleagues, and parent and is teachable.
  16. Teaches classes as assigned and scheduled by the administrator.
  17. Prepares and submits weekly lesson plans for the administrator's review.
  18. Attends and participates in scheduled devotional, committee, and weekly faculty meetings.
  19. Integrates Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum.
  20. Follows the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, administration, staff, and Board.
  21. Represents the school in a favorable and professional manner to the constituency and general public.
  22. Maintain and uphold the religious standards of Faith Christian School to include the Lifestyle Statement, Staff Covenant and Statement of Faith.
  23. Responsible to disciple, instruct and actively pray for the students on our campus.
  24. Responsible to reinforce a Biblical Worldview in every workplace interaction with both students, staff and faculty.
  25. Other duties as assigned that are closely related to this position.


Qualifications:


Essential Requirements

  • Must possess and model a personal authentic relationship with Jesus Christ and be a member of a Bible believing church.
  • Experience with at least two programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java, or a similar language, as well as programming courses such as CodeHS or Code.org.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to make technical concepts approachable and engaging for high school students.
  • Understanding of foundational computer science concepts including algorithms, data, and networks.
  • Passion for working with students and cultivating curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
  • Bachelor's degree, Minor, or Certificate in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Education, or a related field, OR comparable professional experience.
  • Teaching certification in Computer Science or a related field, or willingness to pursue certification and professional development if applicable.
  • Alignment with the mission and values of a Christian school community.
  • Uses acceptable English in written and oral communication. Speaks with clear articulation.
  • Evidence of personal commitment to continuing professional development.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching AP Computer Science Principles or other computer science courses, as well as College Board AP Training.
  • Familiarity with Python or Java or other beginner friendly programming environments commonly used in AP CSP classrooms.
  • Experience with project based learning, inquiry based instruction, or collaborative classroom models.


Work Schedule:

Approximately 177 Classroom instructional days.

Weekly staff meetings. (During school year)

Daily hours: Thirty (30) minutes before students arrive until Thirty (30) minutes after the students are dismissed for the day.

Attendance and participation in appropriate school events.

Additional staff development and in-service days.
