We currently have a temporary position available for an Engineering Intern or COOP student with experience or a keen interest in transportation projects. If you're enrolled in a Civil Engineering program, seize this opportunity to work alongside Professional Engineers, and develop valuable skills in a supportive environment. Examples of Duties Under the direction of Professional Engineers, you will Assist with developing project scope and delivering transportation capital projects. Perform tasks to support engineering analysis, report production, and designs. Develop, evaluate, and design specifications and contract drawings.

Assist project managers with all aspects of civil engineering. Prepare basic calculations and collect, organize, and evaluate data using your engineering knowledge. Interact with department staff and the public using your communication and customer service skills.

Utilize analytical and organizational skills in performing your duties. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Current college or university enrollment in a Civil Engineering program with an emphasis in Transportation, Environmental, or Hydrology; or Any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience or interest in Transportation Engineering projects. During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team. In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing.

Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
