JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Estimating Intern to join our team. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in estimating processes within the mechanical and plumbing construction industry. The Estimating Intern will work closely with our experienced estimators to support various aspects of the bidding and project estimation process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in Bid Preparation: Collaborate with senior estimators to gather project specifications, blueprints, and other relevant documents necessary for bid preparation.
  • Quantity Takeoffs: Perform quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, and equipment required for mechanical and plumbing projects using industry-standard software and tools.
  • Cost Analysis: Analyze costs associated with materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services to develop accurate project cost estimates.
  • Vendor and Supplier Coordination: Communicate with vendors and suppliers to obtain quotes, pricing, and availability of materials needed for project estimates.
  • Bid Documentation: Assist in organizing and preparing bid documentation, including scope of work, cost breakdowns, and other required forms or documents.
  • Estimate Review: Participate in the review and analysis of project estimates to ensure accuracy, completeness, and competitiveness.
  • Learn Estimating Software: Gain proficiency in industry-standard estimating software programs such as Bluebeam, Procore, Autodesk Fabrication ESTmep, or similar tools.
  • Support Estimating Team: Provide general administrative support to the estimating team, including filing, data entry, and organizing project files.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to learning and professional development by actively seeking opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to project management and the mechanical contracting industry.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Proficiency in BlueBeam PDF editing software.
  • Previous experience utilizing Procore software (preferred but not required).
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when necessary.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and a passion for the mechanical contracting industry.
