Position Summary:

The Engineering Intern supports plant operations by driving lean manufacturing initiatives and maintaining the integrity of the quality management system at the Mt. Juliet facility. This role contributes to improving process efficiency, ensuring product quality, and supporting continuous improvement efforts through cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Service, and Materials teams.

The position plays a hands-on role in developing standardized processes, validating measurement systems, and supporting both internal and supplier quality initiatives.

Key Job Responsibilities included but not limited to:

  • Develop and implement standard work instructions for production and safety using Squint, enabling real-time, actionable execution at the point of use
  • Create and maintain inspection plans for machining operations using High QA to ensure compliance with quality standards
  • Update and improve machining job setup documentation to enhance consistency and reduce variation
  • Manage and maintain gage inventory systems, ensuring calibration status and availability
  • Design and develop 3D models and prototypes using SolidWorks and additive manufacturing
  • Support containment actions and root cause investigations for internal and supplier quality issues, including customer complaints
  • Conduct Gauge R&R and process capability studies to validate measurement systems and process performance
  • Assist in implementation of new equipment, including process validation and documentation development
  • Design and improve tools and fixtures to support manufacturing efficiency and quality

Education and Certification Qualifications:

  • Continued education in a 4-year degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering (Or other related field of study)
