Job description

The Nevada Department of Transportation's Constructability Section seeks a Staff 2 Associate Engineer to review transportation project plans, specifications, and special provisions for accuracy and constructability. The role includes attending project meetings, calculating liquidated damages, developing time determination schedules, and assisting with transportation management plans. This is an on-site position in Carson City requiring engineering expertise and decision-making responsibility.

Key qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or closely related engineering field plus two years of professional engineering experience
  • Certification as an Engineer Intern plus two years of professional engineering experience in civil engineering
  • Two years of experience as Staff I or Supervisor I Associate Engineer in Nevada State service
  • Valid driver's license required at time of appointment
  • Working knowledge of engineering principles, computer software programs, and ability to read and understand engineering plans and specifications
  • Ability to make logical engineering judgments and communicate technical information orally and in writing
