Compensation: $25.00 per hour

Position Summary

The AI & Automation Intern supports the Information Technology team by assisting with automation initiatives, business process improvement activities, database support, IT infrastructure projects, and end-user technical services. This position provides hands-on experience working with automation technologies, artificial intelligence solutions, data management, and enterprise systems while supporting operational objectives across the organization.

The intern will work closely with IT personnel and business stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement, support technology implementations, and contribute to initiatives that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and productivity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in the evaluation, development, testing, implementation, and documentation of automation and AI-driven solutions that support business operations and process improvement initiatives.
  • Support database administration, reporting, and data analysis activities, including SQL query development, data validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in IT infrastructure projects, hardware deployments, workstation setup, software installations, and technology implementation efforts.
  • Provide technical support for hardware, software, network connectivity, printing, and user access issues while maintaining service request documentation.
  • Collaborate with business users and IT team members to identify operational challenges and recommend technology-based solutions.
  • Maintain technical documentation, process documentation, and system-related records as required.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that reduce manual effort, increase efficiency, and improve data accuracy. 
  • Respond to and resolve assigned IT support requests in a timely and professional manner. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous internship, academic project, or practical experience in information technology, automation, artificial intelligence, data analytics, or a related field preferred.
  • Exposure to AI platforms, SQL, programming languages, or technical support activities preferred.
  • Manufacturing environment experience is a plus but not required.
  • Working knowledge of computer hardware, software, operating systems, and networking fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with workflow automation platforms such as Microsoft Power Automate, Power Apps, UiPath, or similar technologies.
  • Exposure to programming or scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, or VBA.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to changing business requirements.
Physical Demands
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
  • Office and manufacturing environment.
  • May be exposed to moderate noise levels when supporting equipment in manufacturing areas.
  • Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required when entering manufacturing areas in accordance with company safety policies.
