Pure Power is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design and produce construction documents for utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) projects of 50 MW and larger. Responsibilities

  • Design and engineer utility-scale solar PV and BESS projects 50 MW or larger, including the associated electrical power systems. 
  • Develop detailed electrical engineering designs including: 

            - Overall system layouts

            - Equipment selection and technical specifications

            - Single-line and three-line diagrams

            - Medium-voltage AC and DC cable sizing and routing

            - SCADA and communication system design

            - Grounding system design

            - Protection, control, and wiring diagrams

            - Underground collection system and trench layouts 

  • Perform engineering calculations including voltage drop, cable ampacity, conduit fill, grounding, fault current, equipment loading, and other analyses required to support design decisions. 
  • Prepare complete construction drawing packages using AutoCAD. 
  • Coordinate engineering activities with clients, utilities, permitting agencies, contractors, equipment manufacturers, and external engineering consultants. 
  • Support projects through construction by responding to Requests for Information (RFIs), reviewing equipment submittals, evaluating field issues, and performing site visits as required. 
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while consistently meeting project schedules and deliverable commitments. 
  • Break down complex engineering problems into practical, efficient design solutions and support the technical development of project team members. 
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, industry standards, client requirements, and company quality procedures. 
  • Maintain compliance with company safety policies and applicable industry and regulatory standards. 
  • Participate in internal design reviews and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 
Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. 
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience designing commercial and/or utility-scale solar PV systems. 
  • Experience preparing construction documents using AutoCAD, including layer management, sheet sets, external references (Xrefs), blocks, dimensioning, plotting, and file management. 
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable industry standards. 
  • Understanding of medium-voltage electrical distribution systems, power system fundamentals, and electrical design principles. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop practical engineering solutions. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, utilities, permitting agencies, and multidisciplinary engineering teams. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to read, interpret, and produce engineering drawings, technical specifications, and other engineering documentation. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure. 
  • 6+ years of experience designing utility-scale solar PV systems. 
  • Experience designing Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). 
  • Familiarity with PVsyst, CYMCAP, ETAP, or similar engineering software. 
  • Familiarity with electrical studies such as cable ampacity, voltage drop, grounding, short-circuit, or load flow analyses. 
  • Familiarity with utility interconnection requirements and utility-scale project development. 
  • NABCEP certification. 

Location

This position will be based out of our exciting Kansas City, KS area office with the flexibility to work a hybrid in-office and remotely weekly schedule. We also provide a parking spot for the days when an employee wishes to drive to the office and for those that utilize public transportation, we will cover the costs associated with traveling to and from the office.


Salary Range

$110,000- 135,000 Annually
