Job description

REGISTERED NURSE - POST SURGICAL CARE UNITAspirus Wausau Hospital, Wausau, WI
Part Time (.6 FTE, 48 hours every pay period)
12-hour PM shifts, every third weekend, holiday rotation

The Registered Nurse is a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for the provision of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care provided that incorporates evidence-based practice. A key aspect of the work of Nursing is to continually improve the quality of nursing care by collecting and analyzing data.
Unit Description:
40-bed unit that provides care for pre- and post-surgical adults and geriatric patients. Post Surgical is unique by having a population of patients Monday-Friday that are planned surgical patients. These patients are scheduled for an inpatient admission after their surgical procedure. Patient population includes orthopedic diagnosis (medical & surgical), neuro-medical or surgical, surgical spine and trauma. Surgical procedures may be related to wound care/plastic surgery, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, gynecologic, renal, thoracic, vascular, total joint replacements, fractures, musculoskeletal injuries of upper/lower extremities and trauma patients.
Experience/Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in nursing required.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
  • Certification in specialty desired.
  • Ideally, there is a minimum of three years practicing as an RN in comparative setting.
  • Possesses an active Wisconsin and/or Michigan RN nursing license.
  • Maintains specialty certification as per department scope of service.
  • Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire. (See Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training Policy).
  • Current Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certification may be required based on primary department.
