Job description

SSI is hiring a Sr. Network Engineer to join our team in San Diego, CA on a Navy program. As a Sr. Network Engineer with us, you will lead engineering efforts to develop, operate, and maintain complex technology systems using engineering principles, theories, and concepts. Must have an active Secret clearance. On-site requirement in the lab, 0700 - 1630 Mon-Thursday and working Fridays 0700-1530. 9/80 Work Schedule.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Translate complex business requirements and align the appropriate solution to support business needs.
  • Take accountability for architecture, planning, design, and verification activities to create production-ready configurations for the Global Network via business focused projects.
  • Provide technical leadership in developing methodology, process, and standards for measuring network and application related key performance indicators such as end-to-end application response time, latency, and overall throughput.
  • Be responsible for effectiveness, quality of service, performance tuning, and implementation success.

Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience with network engineering
  • Must have CCNP or higher-level certification
  • Experience with routers, switches, firewalls, MPLS circuit, NIPR / SIPR network, WLAN, ZTNA, Amazon Cloud, CUCM, voicemail, SCCP, Jabber, and SIP
  • Experience with Cisco routers and switches, Quality-of-Service DSCP marking traffic queue prioritization, OSPF and BGP routing protocols, Dynamic mGRE tunnels, VRF, MPLS / VPLS, Q-in-Q VLANs, Wireshark packet capture analysis, and network monitoring tools such as What's Up Gold or Cisco ThousandEyes
  • Experience interacting directly with clients, managers, stakeholders, and approving authorities to identify problems, analyze data, generate solutions, and communicate results
  • Must have an active, current Secret clearance

Desired Skills
  • Experience with containerization, network orchestration, SDN / SDWAN, docker, virtualization
    Experience with Navy Defense Research Evaluation Network ( DREN ) or Navy shore networks like Automated Digital Network System ( ADNS )
