Operations Intern – Hanes Companies
Location: Conover, NC
Reports To: Dylan Shook
Overview
The Operations Intern will support Hanes Companies by assisting with process improvement, operational analysis, and hands‑on projects across the facility. This role focuses on identifying downtime drivers, improving workspace organization, reviewing customer program processes, and supporting machine‑level accuracy and efficiency. The intern will gain valuable exposure to operations, continuous improvement, and workflow optimization within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Analysis
• Identify top downtime drivers by machine group or department.
• Determine root causes and recommend improvement actions.
• Review customer programs with complex special instructions and map current‑state processes with improvement recommendations.
6S and Workplace Organization
• Support machine‑level 6S improvements, including workspace organization and labeling.
• Assist with productivity enhancements and maintaining organized work areas.
Project Support
• Conduct warehouse time studies to support new code layout planning.
• Review and update wrap files for machines to improve accuracy of standards.
• Identify top downtime codes and help create action plans for improvement.
Qualifications
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
