What is an intern operational technology?

Intern Operational Technology (OT) roles are entry-level positions where students or recent graduates gain practical experience working with systems and infrastructure that monitor and control industrial operations. These interns often assist in maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving technologies like SCADA systems, PLCs, and industrial networks. The role typically involves supporting senior engineers, learning about cybersecurity in OT environments, and participating in projects that ensure the efficiency and safety of operational processes. It's a valuable opportunity to develop technical skills and understand how information technology integrates with physical systems in industries such as manufacturing, energy, and transportation.

What types of projects or tasks can an intern operational technology expect to work on during their internship?

As an Intern in Operational Technology (OT), you can expect to assist with monitoring and maintaining industrial control systems, supporting cybersecurity improvements, and helping with system upgrades or troubleshooting. You'll often collaborate with engineers and IT professionals to ensure equipment and network reliability within manufacturing or utility environments. Since 2013, Mine & Yours has been leading Canada's luxury resale movement. We're a recognized destination for buying and selling authentic pre-owned luxury goods, serving a loyal in-store and online community of fashion lovers worldwide.

Our vision is to create a fashion community that values luxury, quality, and sustainability. By extending the life of luxury pieces, we help reduce fashion waste while making high-end fashion more accessible. What sets us apart is our highly curated collections and inspiring, welcoming boutiques where every visit brings the excitement of discovering something new.

About The Role

The Operations Intern will work directly with our Operations and cross-functional teams to keep Mine & Yours running smoothly behind the scenes. This hands-on role touches every corner of our business-from inventory management, data reporting, and store supply procurement to team support and local operational errands.

What You'll Do

Workplace & Operations Support

  • Support day-to-day operational needs across our office and retail locations, including administrative tasks, coordination, and ad-hoc operational projects.
  • Manage inventory and replenishment of workplace and store supplies, including sourcing, purchasing, and coordinating with vendors.
  • Help maintain organized, functional, and well-presented back-of-house areas, storage spaces, and operational supply areas.
  • Identify opportunities to improve organization, efficiency, and processes across workplace and retail environments.

Inventory, RFID & Fulfillment

  • Partner with the Sales Support team to coordinate weekly inventory transfers, including product pulls, preparation, and shipment.
  • Support RFID inventory audits by preparing audit materials, conducting physical scans, and helping investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies with store teams.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate inventory records across physical locations and digital systems.

Data, Reporting, Process Improvement, & AI Initiatives

  • Pull and organize weekly operational data to support team follow-ups, reporting, and revenue recovery initiatives.
  • Assist with recurring and ad-hoc reporting requests across departments.
  • Identify trends, gaps, and opportunities within operational data and help translate findings into actionable improvements.
  • Support the development and implementation of tools, processes, and workflows that improve operational efficiency.
  • Support the exploration and implementation of AI-powered tools and automation designed to streamline day-to-day operational processes.
  • Help identify repetitive or manual tasks that could be improved through technology and automation.
  • Assist with testing, documenting, and refining new tools and workflows.

Cross-Departmental Communication & Support

  • Serve as a reliable point of contact for day-to-day operational and inventory questions from retail and support teams.
  • Monitor and respond to operational inquiries, ensuring questions are directed to the appropriate team when needed.

Who You Are

  • Organized & Detail-Oriented: Exceptional organizational skills with a natural knack for keeping physical and digital spaces structured.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficient in Google Sheets and Excel, with experience using Shopify (or eagerness to learn). Familiarity or interest in AI tools is a strong plus!
  • Proactive & Solution-Oriented: Ready to step in, take initiative on ad-hoc projects, and tackle errands with a positive attitude.
  • Strong Communicator: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interacting with store staff, vendors, and HQ leadership via Slack and in person.
  • Adaptable & Mobile: Comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced retail environment, moving between headquarters, storage areas, and local errands.
  • Fashion & Sustainability Minded: Aligned with Mine & Yours' mission of elevating circular luxury fashion.

Expectations

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule supporting core operational hours.
  • Physical ability to manage stock, lift boxes/supplies, and organize storage spaces as needed.
  • Willingness to support additional projects and operational priorities as assigned by the Operations team.

Why Join Mine & Yours

  • Be part of a growing leader in luxury resale and sustainable fashion.
  • Work with an exceptional collection of designer brands.
  • Develop your retail leadership skills in a supportive environment.
  • Build meaningful relationships with a loyal and fashion-forward clientele.
  • Join a team that values collaboration, growth, and creating extraordinary experiences every day.
