Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and efficient intraoperative circulating support during surgeries.

  • Maintain sterile technique and ensure all equipment is ready and functioning.

  • Coordinate with surgical team to anticipate needs and manage instrument flow.

  • Meet or exceed personal performance metrics and contribute to pipeline-based planning.

  • Document and report adverse events following hospital policies for accountability.

  • Monitor patient status, document events, and communicate changes to the team.

  • Assist with set-up, draping, and specimen handling per protocol and regulatory standards.

  • Engage in ongoing professional development and seek growth opportunities aligned with performance targets.

  • Participate in post-operative turnover, including room cleaning and instrument decontamination.

  • Adhere to evidence-based practices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Educate and support junior staff or students when applicable, providing mentorship.


Experience/Qualifications

  • Current RN license and valid OR circulating certification.

  • Minimum 2 years of intraoperative circulating or OR nurse experience.

  • Proficiency with sterile technique, instrument handling, and setup/draping per protocol.

  • Strong documentation skills for adverse events and intraoperative events.

  • Ability to monitor patient status and communicate changes clearly to team.

  • Willingness to pursue ongoing professional development aligned with performance targets.

  • Participation in post-operative turnover, instrument decontamination, and room prep.

  • Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.
