Sports Tech HQ is a nonprofit organization fueling Indiana's transformation into a global hub for sports technology. Sports Tech HQ attracts companies from around the world to join its collective, positioning them at the forefront of an industry projected to reach $100B by 2030.
Summary
The Sports Tech HQ Spring 2026 Intern will participate in a broad-based internship experience designed to provide exposure to the operations of a nonprofit organization within the sports and innovation ecosystem. This position is intended to provide hands-on professional experience with marketing/events, business development, operations/administration, and data/technology. Additionally, the intern will have the opportunity to learn directly from the Executive Director via strategic and special projects.
This internship experience will include:
Data/Technology
  • Learn how to: leverage technology and artificial intelligence to enhance business efficiency while maintaining and optimizing a CRM system. This functional area will be central to the internship.

Marketing/Events
  • Learn how to: plan and execute events and programs; create marketing initiatives including social media, email communications, and website updates; develop content such as presentations, promotional materials, and event recaps; track and evaluate event participation and engagement.

Business Development
  • Learn how to: conduct research on prospective partners, sponsors, startups, and ecosystem stakeholders; prepare partnership materials, proposals, and presentations; track relationships and organize data.

Operations/Administration
  • Learn how to: coordinate schedules, meetings, and internal communications; organize and prioritize daily operational and administrative functions; analyze and improve processes and procedures.

Executive Director Support
  • Learn how to: research, plan, and execute special projects; prepare for meetings, presentations, and external engagements; lead nonprofit strategy and decision-making.

Learning Objectives
• Gain a comprehensive understanding of nonprofit operations within sports and innovation
• Develop professional skills in communication, organization, and project management
• Learn how marketing, events, business development, and operations function collaboratively
• Gain exposure to the sports technology and startup ecosystem
Qualifications
Undergraduate and Graduate Students
  • Must be currently pursuing or have recently earned a degree from an accredited undergraduate or graduate program

Required Skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent time management, organizational, and multitasking abilities
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
Preferred Skills
• Interest in sports, technology, entrepreneurship, or nonprofit operations
• Ability to think critically and solve problems in a dynamic environment
• Experience with events, startups, marketing, artificial intelligence, and customer-facing roles
Internship Details
Term: Spring 2027 - January 19th - May 7th, 2027
Schedule: 4-5 days per week (approximately 30-40 hours/week)
Stipend: $2000 stipend for internship termLocation: On-site - Indianapolis, Indiana. Relocation or housing is not available
