Job Summary:
The Quality Control Supervisor will directly support the National Manager of Quality Control. This position will cross-functionally work with departmental and corporate leadership to lead, document, and report operations of the quality control department.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and lead a team of Quality Control Technicians and Leads, developing QC personnel by providing guidance, mentorship, and a positive and collaborative work environment.
    • Conduct regular internal audits and team meetings to monitor and improve employee performance, communicate expectations or updates, gather team insights, and ensure alignment with organizational quality objectives.
    • Manage QC staff schedules and labor allocation, ensure accurate timekeeping/payroll, and conduct QC staff performance reviews.
  • Monitor KPIs to ensure compliance with applicable cannabis regulations as well as DreamFields' internal specifications, policies, and procedures. Communicate quality- or compliance-related issues and guidance to necessary/affected parties in a clear, effective, urgent manner.
    • Review, analyze, and report data reported by QC Lead(s) to relevant leadership daily.
    • Work with QC personnel and collaborate cross-departmentally to drive nonconformance investigations (statistical and/or root cause analyses) and identify corrective actions. Hold QC Leads accountable for following through on necessary corrective action(s).
    • Identify opportunities for retraining, document updates, or other continuous improvement initiatives to contribute to error reduction and process enhancements.
  • Support National Manager of Quality Control with continuous improvement or growth initiatives, including but not limited to quality trials/experiments (product or process validation), new market expansions, or new product launches.
    • Serve as a resource to new quality leaders, sharing insights and supporting the collective advancement of the national quality team.
      • Oversee tests or experiments and analyze/report data necessary to drive decisions in line with company goals. Submit Manufacturing Change Requests as needed.
  • Create or revise quality control policies, procedures, or work instructions as needed.
  • Provide feedback regarding specifications of materials and products based on inspection results. Propose data-driven recommendations.
  • Ensure QC equipment is properly calibrated, used, and maintained in good working conditions.
  • Monitor environmental conditions daily, liaising with maintenance to resolve out-of-spec areas.
  • Foster and drive a cross-departmental sense of shared responsibility for quality outcomes.
  • Conduct or support internal audits to identify, track, and correct process deviations or product-related deficiencies, being accountable for accurate and thorough recordkeeping.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and have reliable transportation.
  • Meticulous attention to detail - must be able to closely inspect product to identify defects, transcribe numerical data, and review/verify product labeling with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office - must be comfortable reading, comprehending, and
  • editing spreadsheets, SOPs, and other technical documents. Comfortable with data analysis and data visualization in Microsoft Excel, including basic formulas, Pivot Tables, and graphs.
  • Strong leadership skills - capable of inspiring and motivating a diverse team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills - must be able to professionally and effectively coach and collaborate with others, effectively follow and provide instructions, and ask questions as necessary to fulfill roles and expectations.
  • Strong organizational skills - able to manage physical and/or digital recordkeeping and archives.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to drive decision-making.
  • Problem-solving skills - skilled at making pertinent observations, validating necessary data or insights, and proposing solutions to manufacturing defects in a fast-paced production environment. Must be willing and able to support implementation of solutions as needed.
  • Must be quickly adaptable and open to change.
  • Knowledge of and ability to enforce Good Manufacturing Practices and general workplace health and safety standards - must monitor and maintain the environmental and other manufacturing conditions necessary to achieve safe and high-quality cannabis products.

Education and Experience:
  • HS Diploma or GED required. College degree preferred.
  • Quality control or quality assurance experience in cannabis or a similarly regulated industry.
  • Supervisory or management experience required. Experience leading a quality team preferred.
  • Experience with the Plan-Do-Act-Check (PDAC) cycle as a means of solving problems and managing change/improvement of processes and products - preferred.
  • Statistical analysis experience - preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 75 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in environments with exposure to noise, dust, heat, cold and other industrial elements.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment with variable temperatures and humidity levels.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and occasional overtime as needed, including weekends, public holidays, and evenings.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend over, and pick up items and have constant movement for the duration of the shift.
    • Must be able to lift, push, kneel, and pick up items, both small and large.
    • Capability to operate heavy machinery such as pallet jacks and forklifts safely and efficiently.

Work Schedule (Exempt):
This is a full-time, exempt position. The role requires the flexibility to work the hours necessary to meet business needs, which may include extended hours, weekends, and holidays. Work schedules and expectations may be adjusted based on operational priorities and organizational demands.
